Need comfy, weather proof, blister-free shoes/sandals

Hey folks,

Can any of you seasoned vets recommend GREAT comfy, cushiony SANDALS for kids for our trip? I was going to get them some higher-end cushy tennies then realized we might get some hot or wet weather...sandals would be best. I just don't want to fork out a ton of money and have BLISTERS.

I have been on the same hunt. My kids will do fine in their crocs but DH will need a substantial shoe. This is what I plan to purchase tomorrow.

I recently picked up a pair of the Keen Newport H2s that angiedora linked to above (per the raves on the disboards). They are very comfortable BUT one of the straps cuts into the pinky toe on my right foot & will result in a blister unless I keep a bandaid on the toe. This only happens with my right foot, the left is fine.

Keen also makes a style called Venice with a different strap pattern (they run along the foot rather than across) that looks like it would have eliminated the pinky toe problem for me. But I never looked at the Venice. So I suggest that if you go with Keens you try on both the Venice & the Newport to see what works for your feet.

Aside from that, if I keep that pinky toe taped up I can walk all day in the Newports and keep on going into the night. And the H2s are designed as water shoes so if they get wet it's no problem.

I also have a pair of the Keen Catalinas which are incredibly comfortable and have never given me a second's discomfort but they're a much more open sandal than the Venice or the Newport.

I plan on bringing the Newports, Catalinas & a pair of cross trainers on our trip so that I can switch off if needed (along with band aids & athletic tape ).

My DD wore Teva's for years. She now likes flip flops and crocs. The Teva's are great for rain or water rides. Break them in well before the trip, my DD did get rub marks until they were broke in.

Croc sandals ROCK! I love them love them love them!!!!! We live near Kings Dominion and I wear them there all the time and never have any problems. The only problem is upside down rides,then I have to hold them or sit on them during the ride. Dicks sporting goods have several styles of the sandals
