Need clothes for new job, help!

Hi everyone!

I live in Canada and have found few options for good clothing so I'm thinking of doing some cross-border shopping. I'm wondering if some of you could steer me towards some good stores. I'm starting a student placement with a social services agency and the dress code is basically business casual (no jeans). As a student, I'm on a budget so stores that have good quality at a good pice would be appreciated. I'm also 27 so I don't want to dress too old for my age or too young for the job.

Any guidance would be greatly appreciated!

Have you tried places like Reitmans here in Canada as i use stores like that for my work clothes.

I did buy stuff at the dress barn in the US, but not sure they are everywhere.

That's on the list for tomorrow, but I generally don't have much luck there.

Never been to Kohls before, but I'll have to give it a whirl.

If you have time, you might try thrift shops or consignment stores. You can often find almost new clothing there at a great price.

Try NY&co. They have great coupons and you will find some good deals on business casual clothes, especially pants! Good Luck!!

I work in social services and dress business casual. I wear a lot of Lee brand twill pants. I need clothes that are machine washable and no ironing needed. (my life is stressful enough!) As mentioned, I stalk the clearance wracks at Khols as well as JCPenney. Good luck with your placement!

How about online shopping at stores like Lands End? I found lots of basic items for great prices in their overstock/outlet section.

Slightly concerned about fit/return policy... have you had any experiences with returns with them?

Lands End has an "any time, any reason" return policy. I once returned a canvas purse after three years because I felt it "wore" too quickly. I got a full refund of the original purchase price. (I would have preferred a replacement, but they weren't making the purse anymore.)

Have you tried Winners. It is the same company as TJMaxx and Marshalls on the US side.

What part of the US do you plan to make a shopping visit to? That way we can point you in the direction of some Outlet Malls.
