Need Breakfast Recommendations

When we went in '10, we found the 'Ohana breakfast to be one of our favorite meals of the trip. It was outstanding. Since then, I've done a bit more research into the breakfast spots of The World. Last time it was one breakfast the whole trip. This time, I wanted to make sure we hit a few places, without cutting out from our TS dinners too much.

This year we are going to hit up 'Ohana again. But we are also adding Kona and Crystal Palace. Everyone raves about Kona. As for Crystal Palace, this was a part of a review that put it on my map immediately after our last trip:

Yes, you had your usual scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, biscuits with sausage gravy, grits, breakfast potatoes. Most of these items were well-prepared and plentiful (although during our second visit to the buffet we found the grits to be too runny and the potatoes a bit onion-heavy). There were also cheesy cheddar potatoes, and made-to-order omelets, with a range of fresh fillings, from tomatoes and peppers to ham and an assortment of cheeses. But the items that were not so run-of-the-mill are what really caught my attention.
Most notably, there was an unusual breakfast lasagna that was simply wonderful: a layered composition of pancakes, waffles, pound cake, custard and pastry cream, mingled with assorted berries, bananas, cinnamon and nutmeg. (Yes, I got the recipe!) It was, I have to say, just yummy - but definitely not a low-carb option for those watching their diets!

...

An unusual presentation of French toast also graced the buffet table. Well, they called it "puffed French toast," but to me it looked and tasted like a light raised cinnamon doughnut. This is not a complaint -- it was delicious. I also spotted, but didn't have room for, frittata and specialty pancakes -- blueberry, peanut butter and chocolate!

We love Boma for breakfast and always eat there our last morning before heading home. Buffet has tons of different items and a lot of them are unique to that restaurant.

We also love Kouzzina on the Boardwalk and Olivia's at Old Key West. Olivia's is off the beaten path but it's usually quiet and we've always had a good sit down breakfast there. Definitely a hidden gem at WDW...

Need breakfast recommendations for a couple making a September solo trip that have never made breakfast reservations before and don't mind the characters but would like a good variety of breakfast items. (ex: eggs benedict, biscuits and gravy?) :wave2:

Captains Grille is the best choice for this. Been there on many occasions - love it. Very casual place at YCR & lots of choices. You can pick from various options, including eggs benedict, or go for the buffet and try a little bit of everything. The buffet is $16.99 at least was in May. And yes buffet includes EB - my favorite.

I really enjoyed my breakfast at Kona! I also really liked Tusker House, it is a character meal, but I thought there was a good variety of food ~ lots of stuff that I don't remember seeing at some of the other breakfast buffets.

We love the breakfast at Kouzinna--it's just a lovely experience and the food is well prepared and presented. :thumbsup2

We have enjoyed character breakfast buffets @
Tusker House is our favorite breakfast
1900 Park Fare had a great lobster benedict
Cape May Clambake
Crystal Palace

Non Character
Boma

Non Buffet
Whispering Canyon

If you are going for good food & a nice relaxing morning, I think most folks have it covered.

However, if you want to mazimize park hours & get a filling meal, I'd suggest Crystal Palace, Akerhaus in Epcot, or Tusker House in Animal Kingdom.
Go for the earliest possible ADR on a non-extra magic hour morning (I don't know if the Studios has a breakfast or not?).

If a park opens @ 9am but you can be having a decent breakfast @ 8 or 8:15am & aren't worried about characters, then you can eat & be out just ahead of the regular crowds. :thumbsup2
The breakfast buffets aren't bad. Usually eggs, pancakes, fruit, yogurt, waffles, muffins, etc. Typical breakfast buffett, but where you make good is on the fact you are through the gates & well into the park before official opening. Can make the difference in getting in 2 or 3 extra rides first thing that morning.

Plus, if you have a nice, big, filling breakfast you can usually go later & keep on riding around noon-ish when folks are stopping to eat. And since brunch at those places is usually cheaper than lunch or supper you are saving a little since you can probably get by w/a lighter lunch that day.

I was just at Captain's Grille last week. The buffet price was $18.49. I was just going to order off the menu but those prices were around $12-$14 I think and I figured that by the time I ordered the item, plus my coffee, I'd be close to the $18, so I just got the buffet. To be honest, I never saw the Eggs Benedict on the buffet but I could have missed it. There were certainly several egg dishes there---one was a mini egg white omelet filled with spinach and topped with tomatoes and another was a cheesy, eggy quiche looking thing although they did not call it a quiche. Then there was scrambled eggs. Either I missed the eggs benedict or it wasn't there that day.

I wasn't thrilled with the O'hana breakfast personally, though the pog juice they serve is heavenly. If you go there, ask for a mimosa made with that. So good and a great kickoff to a day at the park. For me, the best breakfast on property is actually at Kouzzina. No characters obviously, but superb quality for a great price point!

I agree with Kouzzina! We have enjoyed breakfast at Kona, O'hana, Crystal Palace, WCC, etc...but Kouzzina was definitely the best we have had on property!

OK everyone I got 1900 Park Fare and Kona!!! 1900 Park Fare isn't until 11:00 so I'm not sure I'm gonna keep it but DH insisted on Kona after seeing the menu!! Thanks for all the helpful recommendations!!!
