Help please --

On our getaway day (it's a Monday), we want to have a nice breakfast that's not in the parks. We're staying at the Grand and are debating between the Storyteller's Cafe and Steakhouse 55. We're all kids at heart and not at all beyond dining with some characters, but none of us have ever tried Steakhouse 55 (for any meal) and we're wondering if that's a better option.

Thoughts? I've looked at the menus and the prices, but I still can't decide which place to recommend to my group.

We'd be open to going somewhere in Downtown Disney, too, or even another resort if it's worth it. (Not Goofy's Kitchen - we did that last trip. It was a blast but we want to branch out!). We do want to be able to make reservations if that makes a difference.

Thanks for the help and info!

We did the character meal at Storytellers and the food was WONDERFUL - the eggs benedict yummmmm. I'd do it again just for the food. The characters were "eh" in my opinion.

SH55 for breakfast is like a hidden gem if you ask me. ;)
The food and ambiance are both excellent and it's not very expensive for a sit down meal. It's fairly quiet and some of the servers have worked there for years. Of course Storyteller's is great as far as location goes if staying at the Grand. I hope you enjoy whichever you choose!

As PP said, you can't go wrong with either! SH55 is quieter and there will be less kids since it is not a character meal.

I know it's getting a refurb soon, but maybe Ariel's Grotto? You can use that "secret" CAA entrance from the Grand and their breakfast menu looks fabulous! And seeing princesses would be so fun for a girl's trip :)

BFF and I do an annual 'girls only' trip. It used to be Storyteller's for breakfast since we stay at the Grand, but since you can no longer eat 'a la carte' at Storyteller's we have breakfast at Steakhouse 55. It's just not worth the price for the buffet at S. unless you're into character meals.

We usually eat in the parks or grab a pastry from our own stash in the room fridge during our park days. But our tradition is our 'farewell breakfast' in the morning before we check out and head home. A nice yummy breakfast and a Bellini to toast to our 'next trip'.

On my GF and I's last trip for her birthday we were comp'd breakfast at SH55. it definitely is quiet. we were 2 of about 4 people in the whole place. its very nice and elegant. its not as fun as say the plaza inn character bfast inside DL but the food is the best in the entire resort when it comes to breakfast. Its definitely the most loved breakfest of the DLH concierge staff who are the ones that comp'd it.
