DH & I are thinking ahead to 2021. We will both be retired by then & are thinking of visiting Aulani. We would have to book 7 months out. We would just need a studio. How difficult is it to book a studio 7 months out & is one season more difficult to book over another?

We are going at the end of January, and have gone in October, both times we booked with points around the 7 month mark and both times we had no trouble booking a room. The first time we stayed ocean view, this time we are in island garden view. Both were studios. I don't think it will be an issue although things can change between now and 2021

I think you'll be fine. My goodness, 2021 is SO far away!!! Who knows what changes are in store for us between now and then.

Any time kids are in school you'll have more availability. Golden Week (in Japan) is also a very busy time at Aulani.

We were able to book 5 months out for a trip in October. The only studio room type available was an ocean view, which is what we wanted anyway. The lower cost room types book up much faster than the ocean view and may not be available at 7 months. I would pick a window of travel, wait to find the room you want, and then book flights.

I'm waiting for the 11 month window to open for our travel dates in 2020... it cannot come soon enough.

“Golden Week”? Please explain?

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Golden_Week_(Japan) Basically it’s when there is a cluster of public holidays within a short time frame - so many (and I mean LOTS) of Japanese tourists make the dash to Hawaii for a holiday. We left just as Golden Week started adt year and the employers at our hotel were all on hand, no one had time off and they were stationed like military ready for the influx.

My husband and I just got back from 10 days at Disney World. It was a momentous trip for us as, after a couple of years of dreaming and scheming, we decided to join the ranks of DVC ownership! We hadn't even left for the airport for home yet and I was already planning our next trip. We are looking to book Aulani for our 10th wedding anniversary this coming Halloween (or NEAR Halloween as our 5 year old would not forgive us if he missed out on Trick-Or-Treating :-D ). We are flying on my points, so it'll take some skilled juggling to make the dates work. Has anyone ever been stuck with no room available for part of their trip? What fall-back options did you have?

my boyfriend found out in November that his work is sending him to Maui for being one of the top performers, I was able to get ocean view studio at around 70 days.

We booked at 7 months without issue for our stay this past October. I don't think you'll have much issue...

That said, make sure you check out the other threads on here about the pool closures this fall before you make your plans. Not saying you shouldn't go then, just be aware.
