Hope this is an okay forum to post this in.....

We will be taking my son (who will be 3 at the time) back to WDW in January.
He was there when he turned 2 and therefore has some memories of rides, the monorail, etc.

We're looking for a book(s) that would be good to read with him to get him ready for the trip. It doesn't need to have any fancy design sketches or technical information, just a "prep" for a 3 year old of the theme parks. He's a big reader (and we read with him often throughout the day) - so he'll love something if we can find it.

Thanks in advance.

By far, one of the best books out there for kids getting to go to WDW is

Tim Foster's Guide to the Magic for Kids!

My daughter has dog-eared the pages just looking at this book so many times!!

Do you have any of the WDW Souvenier Guide Books hanging around from previous trips? My 2 little girls love flipping though one we have from 1993!

The also love seeing all of our old photos from their last WDW visit in October 2007. (We have Window's Media Center hooked into our flat screen TV and use it to look at photos all the time.) My 3 yr old remembers staying at AKV and seeing the giraffes, zebras, and the pool. she saw the pool on the Travel Channel and said "Mommy - that's my other house!" - which is what we call whatever DVC home we stay in for vacation.

There is a new book out by Tim Foster called "Kid's Guide to the Magic" which looks very fun. It doubles as an autograph book and journal for writing down memories. Also, Birnbaum has a Kid's version written by kids. That one would be a bit more basic language and more photos.

My DS (20 months) loves to look through the Birbaum's for Kids bookk. He gets so excited when he sees the castle (he says "castle" is an exaggerated whisper - so cute!).

He rode lots of rides on the boardwalk this summer so he knows what a ride is - I am so excited to take him to Disney to experience "real" rides!!:)

Are there lots of color pics in this book?

I bought a great book for my nephew (5) on my last trip. It is Mickey Goes to Disney World or something like that. Mickey goes through the Magic Kingdom with his teddy bear and they do most of the big attractions together. It is SO cute. My nephew loves it and since we leave in 10 days, he makes my brother read it to him every night. It is more of a story book than a planning book, but it'd be perfect for you 3 year old DS. Unfortunately you might have to call Disney merchadise to order it. I checked Amazon and I couldn't find it listed there.

I have to say that I think the Birnbaum kid's book pales in comparison to the Guide to the Magic for Kids. Sort of like comparing a thin brochure to a 2" fact filled book!

GTTMFK is extremely interactive too w/ stickers for each attraction which I think would be appealing to a 3yo! :thumbsup2

anything but the unofficial guide. great for adults, boring for kids. UG's like a textbook.

I would also suggest, if he's not familar with them, Cinderella, Snow White, Peter Pan, Dumbo, etc, so that the rides will be "familiar". Snow White's scary adventure isn't so scary if you know she lives happily ever after before you get on the ride.
