Looking for a recommendation on a good life perspective book for recent high school graduates.

In my opinion, you can't go any better than "Oh, the Places You'll Go" by Dr. Seuss. It's light-hearted and fun, yet has such a special meaning that any high-school grad will enjoy!

I gave a senior a the book by Lee Cockerell, former Executive Vice President of Resort Operations for Disney...it is advertised here on the Disboards...Its called "Creating Magic" and its a book about leadership...very cool book that EVERYONE, Disney fan or not should read....check it out.

The Last Lecture, by Randy Pausch.

Randy Pausch was a college professor who was asked to give a final lecture. After accepting the invitation, he was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer (bad). He decided to go ahead with the lecture, and gives some incredible advice.

After the lecture, he asked a friend to help him write the book. He would ride his bicycle for exercise, and talk with his friend on the phone for hours. Then, the two of them summed up the conversations in the book.

One of Randy's main concerns about dying, is that he wouldn't be around for his three kids (Ages 5, 2, 0?). He wanted them to be able to remember him, and wanted to teach them things that he wouldn't be around to teach them.

Great book for anyone, not just a recent grad.

As an added bonus, one of the author's childhood dreams was to become a Disney Imagineer. He did, and he talks a little about that in the book.

You can google Randy Pausch and get a bunch of youtube videos. But get the book, read it, and pass it on. You won't regret it.

Looks like I killed another thread! It seems like I do that a lot.

Good for work, life, and all other changes that might cause stress or worry....

"Who Moved My Cheese?" by Spencer Johnson

It was given to wy team at work years ago and I have given it to many others through the years.... moving, graduates, lost jobs, changing jobs, breakups, etc...
