Need Body Glide or something similiar

We used the Monistat and it worked great! I didn't use it one day and could tell a difference.

Bodyglide is king,I couldn't go to a waterpark without getting major chafing in my inner thighs from walking around in the wet shorts all day. After finding Bodyglide I'll never have that issue again!!Just put it on in the morning and I'm set to go,no worries!I buy mine at a runners store.

We burn through a lot of running shoes in our house and a lot of Body Glide but Bag Balm in the big green tin works well too. It is available in Walmart, Target, pet stores, etc. I have also seen Body Glide-like products in the foot care sections in the same stores and in shoe stores. I can't name a specific brand but I'm sure there is more than one and I'm sure they all work just as well. I like to put it between my big toe and the next when I haven't worn my flips for awhile. It's good for any rubby spots though- thighs, bra straps, the tops of feet, other places that rub but I can't think of right now.

wow will have to try the monistat. I have tried everthing from body glide sports sticks from Academy store to anti-persperant spray. The thing that seemed to work the best for me was globs of vasaline (did'nt feel that great between the toes but neither did the blisters at the end of the day)It was so bad I had to drag my eight year old (who was running circles around me):rotfl2: out of the park crying not to leave.

I ended up with blisters so bad if I would not be afraid of the dirty looks I would have rented me a scooter :woohoo:

Sorry, but I am still not clear on how this stuff works to prevent blisters. Can someone explain how it works? It just seems to me if your shoes are going to rub enough to give a blister, it can do it through a coating of waxy stuff?

It actually works really well. It is hard to explain the substance, but it does prevent the chafing and blisters. We use it for when we will wear bathing suits all day - beach, water parks, etc. - and it really has prevented that pain from happening. I have never used it on feet, but am sure it works the same way. I think it was like $8-$9 at the shoe store.

Imagine your foot, with the sock/shoe rubbing against the skin, creating friction, then a blister. The gel/stick puts a kind of barrier, so the sock/shoe is rubbing against it, and not your skin, so it slides, and therefore doesn't rub off.

Clear as mud? :)

I use the Band-Aid brand blister block, works great. I've found it at WalMart, CVS and Acme, near, of course, the Band-Aids.

I know that the OP already left on his/her trip, but for anybody else's info, drugstore.com sells all kinds of stuff like that, if you have time to order online. That's where I bought my kids Earplanes for our flight. (another FYI!)

At our local Target, in the foot care area, I bought a Dr Scholl's product like Body Glide.

Just a thought... for the folks that are recommending antiperspirant for chafing/blisters.... with the armpits as the exception, you should never use anti-perspirant anywhere else, particularly not feet. Deodorant is fine, never anti-perspirant.

On a trip long ago, I sprayed my feet with "deodorant" before a day in the park with new sandals (not even thinking about it also being an antiperspirant). By noon, I was in agony, and checked out my feet closely in the bathroom, and instantly realized that I had killed my feet's ability to perspire, causing them to retain all of the sweat, and they were horribly swollen and red. I washed off the stuff immediately, and within an hour my feet were half the swollen size and continued to actually improve all day. I think I washed them a couple more times, just to be safe.

So -- learn from my mistakes... NEVER antiperspirant. Sweating is a necessary function of your body's cooling system... imagine if you sprayed your legs and feet with it in July before hitting Disney? You could literally have heat stroke!

We backpack/hike. One of the best, easiest ways to prevent blistering, wear a pair of sock liners. In other words, a pair of socks for under your socks. They sell them at most camping/outdoor gear stores or you can also just get a pair of those short nylons (Knee highs only shorter) that they make for ladies dress shoes and wear those under your socks. They really do work. DH has had the same pair (at a cost of about $5) for about 6 years now. Also try cool max socks. Cotton and sweaty feet = very bad blisters.

What are you using it for? Your feet? I gues I am clueless about this topic, but I would like to know.

Inner thigh area, for us because of wearing bathing suits. Gets very irritated.

DH & I have used Avon's Anti Blister Balm from their footworks line with great success---no blisters yet.

Use it with and without socks--a little goes a long way! Don't use too much or you can get a little "slidy" on your sandals until it is totally absorbed by your skin.

Just another suggestion!:)
