We have 3 families traveling together - we are planning to spend some time in each port, shopping and seeing the sites, but would also like to have some beach time in each port. Wondering what is the best beach for families to go to in Key West, Grand Cayman and Cozumel. Specifics on fees, directions, best way to get there would be appreciated. Thanks!!!

Hello there
I do not know about the other ports, but I can help you with Key West being that I was born and raised there - Now I can tell you that the beaches in KW are not what everyone would expect - at one time, we had awesome beaches, but for lack of care or whatever - they just aren't that inviting - Now the beach at the Casa Marina is super nice - you can have lunch, drink etc and use the beach - then there is fort Taylor which was once Navy controled but it is now open to the public - this is at the end of Southern Street and will have directions how to get to it - the Atlantic and the Gulf meet at this point - this fort was used to fight the pirates etc away from KW.
We have our class reunions at Fort Taylor and have always had good experience there -
Hope you have a wonderful time getting ready for your western cruise and if there are any questions I can help you with, just write me at snelsonbrown@aol.com

IMHO - skip the beach for Key West. Just shop around town and maybe see the sites.

You don't have much time in Grand Cayman. I highly recommend the stingray snorkel here, and then shop a little around this beautiful town! You have to be back on the ship around 5:00 you won't have time to do a beach trip and snorkel with the rays.

In Cozumel, I heard that Chaukanaab and Playa Sol are good here but we did neither because we were all burned from snorkeling with the stingrays the day before :( Beach would be better than shopping here because you're harrassed the entire time you shop... "come in to my store... almost free... can I braid hair???" you get the picture :)

Then you have an all day beach day at Castaway Cay.

Just my suggestions. Whatever you do, you can't help but have fun with this itinerary.

Cayman - We took a cab ride ($4.00 per person) to 7 mile beach across from the Holiday Inn. Here there are bathroom facilities, waitress service on beach, cafe and plenty of beach chairs. NO FEE! Beware though, have enough small change because when buying drinks or food they tell you to have exact change because they can not give you back US dollars. This was not a problem in town shopping, they give you change back in US$$.

Cozumel - Mr. Sanchos beach is a 15 min cab ride from PIER. Cost us $15.00 each way for 3 adults and 2 children. No rocks on beach, free admission, food, watersports, freshwater pool, live music. Trampoline in water $4.00 per person for 2 hours. Alot of fun.

in cozumel we went to nachi cocom- it was gorgeous- great beach with hut awnings and an awesome pool. very clean and not to crowded-we had 2 other dis families with us and we all had a very relaxing day!

Tell me more about nachi cocom. I have been researching beaches to go to in Cozumel. My daughter and I like to sun, but my son likes to snorkel. A quiet beach with great snorkeling would be great! How far is this beach from the ship?

it was a 15 min ride from the ship-cost was 30 round trip- it is a beautiful place but the snorkeling wasn't that good- my husband didn't see much when he went out
