Hi All,

I currently have an ADR for Ragland Road, but am hearing really bad reviews. Soooo, the only place I've had dinner at there, is Planet Hollywood. Can anyone suggest a good place for dinner there? We're on the DDP, so I'll have a table service to use. I was thinking Captn Jacks, but just read 5 REALLY bad reviews, all recent. I'm at a loss....:confused3

Thanks!

Chris

Captn Jacks didn't thrill me at all; and since they removed the lobster there's no reason to eat there. What about Wolfgang Puck's? It's on the DP and the menu looks tasty.

I am leaning towards it...just hoping someone's eaten there and has something good to say! Now I'm GLAD I canceled my Ragland Road  it would have been SO not good!

I considered Raglan..but in the end my husband picked Planet Hollywood. I don't expect the food to be great...but it'll do.

We have been to Wolfgang Puck's on our past 2 trips and we have enjoyed it. We are going for lunch this year. They have lovely sushi, which DS and I both like. Their portions are ENORMOUS, too. We have had several different fish and chicken entrees, calamari and sushi, DH had some BBQ flatbread thing, spinach salad appetizer, all of them were REALLY good.

I know Mike said they had really hurried service (bill hit the table along with the entrees) but I don't recall him commenting on the food.

I have seen some scathing Ragland Road reviews lately. :scared1:

My favorite is House of Blues, not sure if they take the DDP.

Or you can take a short boat ride over to the Truf Club at SSR. Rob swears it is a hidden gem of Disney World.

Very true! :thumbsup2

The food is great!

My favorite is the calamari appetizer with roasted garlic aoli!

The crab cakes are pretty darn good too! :thumbsup2

Now if you need server recomendations, just do your best Norma Desmond impression and yell for your man servant! You wont be disappointed! :rotfl2:

:thumbsup2 I am going there! That is why Mike is leaving town! :goodvibes

Well, food is such a personal preference thing, but we (who always truly enjoyed Puck's) won't be eating there again any time soon. They've ruined the menu, and the food preparation is pretty poor. :( We were terribly disappointed. Raglan Road is better.

Actually, the best place to eat at DTD anymore is either Cooke's of Dublin (the take away at Raglan Road) or the Earl of Sandwich. We are not fast food people at all, but nothing else is good at all.

Could you try a resort restaurant in the area? Or, do you have your own transport? If you do the Dr. Phillips area isn't far at all, and they have some really nice restaurants there. ::yes::

Hmm. Well, I guess if the menu at Puck's has tanked maybe we will just have some light lunch fare and call it good! The reason I booked Monday lunch was because they WERE running 50% off for DVC members. Of course that ended back in February or thereabouts.

We don't have DDP, but I think they do offer some sort of DVC or AP discount. And the prices at lunch are WAY better than dinner, so maybe that will take the sting out of any disappointments!

Not on the DDP, there are only a few places TS in DTD, they really need to add a few places!

OMG my mouth is watering...why can't they be on the DDP?? I really don't want to eat OOP, since I'm surprising her w/ Victoria & Alberts :confused3

Now I NEVER thought about that..I'm gonna go check out their menu!

Yes, I've read those reviews, they were enough to make me cancel my ADR!! I think Wolfgang's is like so many places, it's hit or miss, and I would rather go somewhere that is consistantly good! ;)

Thanks everyone...I think I'm going to check out The Turf Club and see what they have! Off to do more researching! :surfweb:

I was talking about the Turf Club at Saratoga Springs. It IS on the DDP! :thumbsup2

Just saw that and OMG the menu IS mouthwatering!!! I checked out some pics of the place, beautiful. I think on my lunch break, I'm calling Disney and adding my LAST ADR!! Thanks SO much for the awesome tip!

No problem.

Everything we've ever had has been very good. We've always had great service there as well.

If you like bourbon, their Mint Julep is fantastic!

I tend to enjoy the sweeter drinks. However, this trip is ALL about new experiences, so I may have to try that one! ;)

It's potent. But it does have simple syrup in it, so it's on the sweeter side of bourbon drinks. It's very yummy. Like a bourbon snowcone!

Don't know if you saw this but a very positive review of Ragland was just posted: http://www.disboards.com/showpost.php?p=32417619&postcount=125. I'm really hoping this is the true status quo and that the negative reviews were some adjustment problems or something, we're going in August on our La Nouba night :stir:pixiedust:::yes::

Capn Jack's was a comically wretched experience for us. I can honestly say it was our only bad experience at any Disney restaurant. We are usually pretty happy campers and go with the flow, but this one took the cake. Between the bad service and the mediocre food, our experience was filled with cast members that were right out of a bad polyester filled nightmare. Here is the link to our review on allears. I admit I was kind on this review.

Raglan Road was a decent experience for us; it was entertaining and full of energy. The food was okay. We got a kick out of the dancers, no pun intended.
