Need advise!

I currently own 400 points at OKW. We spent a week last April in Vero and thought we were in paradise. Although we enjoy OKW and the other Orlando resorts, we would like to continue to travel to Vero each April. We're considering dropping our our OKW contract and aquiring a Vero contract. This will allow us to make reservations with much greater ease at 11 months. Otherwise, we doubt they would be available. We are also interested in renting a GV which is even more difficult to book. Are we crazy? Any suggestions on how to accomplish this?

I surely doubt DVD would do it but if I ran it, I would swap you even 400 VB points for 400 OKW points and make 2 people happy. They would get rid of some VB points they're having a hard time selling and could sell the OKW points probably before they could close...

If that's what you wanna do, you would have to sell them resale and then buy the VB seperately unless someone knows another way.

I don't know how hard Vero is to get at 7 months. I would like to know what you find out from others.

Are you going to take advantage of Magical Beginnings or are you intending on using your pts this April?

Do they even have Grand Villas at Vero or are you talking about staying in a Beach House?

I guess you never know what MS would do. Everyone says they are having such a hard time selling VB so I guess it wouldn't hurt to ask.

If they can't do anything and you already know what you want to do just sell you OKW contract and buy VB. I would just make sure that you actually want to sell your OKW.

Before you go ahead and sell and re-buy (most likely losing money in the process), I'd see what difficulty there is in getting your reservations. It's true that the GV/Beachhouse may be difficult to book but it might not be impossible. Have you tried booking for this April? Were you able to do it? If you haven't booked, give a call now and see what would be available (even if you don't actually book it). It might not be necessary to sell to get what you want.

Another option would be to trade your points with a VB owner who would like to get OKW at the 11 month wondow. There may be someone who is looking for a GV or 2br at OKW!

Hi, Bostonfaimily5. We too love VB, and don't blame you for wanting points there.

I believe it will be difficult, if not impossible to book a beach cottage in April at the 7 month window. Keep in mind that a beach cottage in April will be mucho points!

You might try posting an interest in swapping reservations with someone on the Rent/Trade forum. You could reserve their prime time stay onsite at WDW for them and they could reserve your prime time stay (similar amount of points) at VB. When you're not planning to stay during the highest points seasons, your points ought to be fine for reserving your VB stays. Just a thought.

Since there are only 6 Beach Cottages(GV"s) at VB, you won't know the availabilty at the 7 month window until you call. If I had to guess you probably have a good chance for friday and saturday(high pts), but may have to waitlist for some days.
We had to waitlist for July to get a 1BR at the 7 month window(wanted 6 nites-only got 4). We were using our leftover OKW pts for this reservation back then.
We decided to add on at VB(200 pts) this past January so we could have the luxury of the 11 month window(especially for the Beach Cottages) and plan on staying at VB at least once a yr.

P.S. Don't tell to many peple about VB, it will be easier to get ressies there then.

I have posted about this before. In our case, we have an OKW contract and a VB contract. We would rather have more OKW points and drop the VB contract altogether. We have 200 points at VB.
