We are driving to disney from around St.louis in may. Were leaving about 6 in the evening and my DH wants to drive until about midnight are so which will put us close to the other side of nashville. My ? is does anyone know of any good motels to stop at on the way that are in good nieghborhoods. Reason I ask is 2 years ago we stopped in atlanta in a very bad nieghborhood. So bad the man at the Best western advised us to bring all our luggage in and also made 2 employees come out and help him. We worried all the rest of the night about our rental van. But it was fine. Any adivse would be helpful. Thanks Robyn

bump - you might want to edit the title to include "around Nashville" so the locals will see it and respond to your request.

YOu will be coming down I-24 right?

There are a few good hotels in Murfreesboro and I would probably keep going until you get there. They are right off the intestate and I have not heard any bad reports out of that area about the hotels. That will also get you out of the traffic in Nashville the next morning!

I know that there is a Hampton in there.

If you're going all the way through Nashville on I-24, I would get to the OTHER SIDE of town and stay in either Lavergne, Smyrna or Murfreesboro. Those are pretty quiet suburbs and Murfreesboro especially will have lots of hotels and restaurants to choose from.

Don't stop in Antioch, Hickory Hollow or Clarksville (sorry to anyone who lives in those areas).

If you get to the other side of town, the other benefit is when you start your second day's drive, you'll be driving against rush hour traffic - and if you stop in Murfreesboro, there should be no traffic all the way out.

Good luck!

Another vote for Smyrna or Murfreesboro, but I wouldn't stop in LaVergne, high crime at those hotels. One exit further is Smyrna and many less problems. 4 exits further is Murfreesboro and there are lots of hotels at that offramp.
