My brother has a DVC contract and doesn't plan on using his points this year. I have no points left this year on my (seperate) contract. I would like to borrow/rent/transfer some of his points for my usage. What is the best/easiest way to go about this? I don't have to worry about renters contracts or anything since it is my brother. Would it be easier for him to make a ressie for me? Or what it be easier to have him transfer the allotted points to my account and I can make the ressie myself?

Also, does anyone have an idea on availabilty of a studio (anywhere) for March 30-April 4? Do you think I'd even have a chance getting a ressie?

Thanks in advance!

If you both are members I believe your brother would call MS and transfer the points into your account. Remember you only can go in 1 direction per use year, in or out.

Unless you want to hope that any transferred points become your use year and/or home resort, it's easier and simpler just to have him reserve for you within his account. If you need to ante up points for part, just book part in your account and part in his and link them. If you need to get a few points to round out a night, just transfer that amount.

Dean,

I talked to MS today and asked about transfering points. She stated that there was NO limit to the amount of times you can transfer in and out (points) of your account. :confused3

Could this be something new?

There is no limit on the number of times you may transfer, but you can only transfer in one direction (either in or out) per Use Year.

Originally, we were limited to only one transfer per Use Year, but that policy was changed a few years ago to allow multiple transfers but still in one direction.

As Doc noted, that's correct. But there are risks and hassles in doing so and in this case, no benefit other than if you need to combine points for a singled night OR you have points of a "lessor" DVC resort or that will expire and you are hoping to end up points that you can use at a "more in demand" resort or extend the life of the points in question.
