Need advice! Upgrading AP question

We are a family of 5 and we have the cheapest APs. They are good until next May. After buying them at the old price, I decided I want to run the Tinkerbell Half Marathon which is 1/20/13. My daughter's birthday is 1/21 and that also is the Martin Luther King holiday in 2013... So, our passes are blocked that whole weekend. The next level pass is not blocked Monday 1/21 but is the rest of the weekend... To have the whole family go for the whole weekend, I need to upgrade the 5 of us to the Deluxe... Price to upgrade will be $1350! When added to what we have already paid, our APs will cost the family $2345... I know only I can decide whether it makes sense to spend so much $, but I am looking for advice either way...talk me into it or talk me down.

We live 90 minutes from DL. When we have passes, we go on at least four 2 to 3 day visits typically in October, December, February and May. I would go in the summer if I had the deluxe, so I know I would have more visits...it would be nice to have the weekend option... I could make it worth it, but wow...it's a lot of $$. Any advice?

Did you price out what it would be to just buy block out tickets? It's $70/day/person. Also you could get discounted tickets through the race (or some race entries include a 1 day pass).

Thank you for the input... I think if we did blockout tix, and we wanted to go all 3 block out days, it would end up being $210 per person for the block out... so would be a little bit cheaper to do that... Also, we don't necessarily HAVE to go to Disney each day of that weekend.

I don't think the 1/2 marathon comes with a ticket, but the 5K does offer a special twilight ticket that can be used one of the weekend days. Not sure how much the race is, but my oldest, who will be 10, wants to run that.

Other than having a lot fewer block outs, is there any reason to get the Deluxe as opposed to keeping my So. Cal. Select or just upgrading one level to the So. Cal., which has MLK day open?

Decisions, decisions!

You might want to compare discounts, I don't know what level of discount you get with a So Cal compared to a Deluxe but that's something to consider. Good luck!
