My family of 4 will be driving to visit USH following a visit with family in Las Vegas the weekend of July 15th.
Our plan is to fly to Las Vegas from Denver, rent a car and visit w/family Thursday 7/14 thru Sunday 7/17. We will then drive from Las Vegas to Los Angeles area on Sunday 7/17. Our plan is to visit USH on Monday 7/18. We are set to fly home from LAX to Den (departing at 5:50am - ouch) on Tuesday 7/19.
In the past we've stayed at Courtyard in Burbank and found it to be decent with a nice pool for our 2 daughters. What I didn't love was the drive from there to LAX (~1 hour IIFC), the stop in the neighborhood to fill up the rental before returning it, etc. That is kind of what I'm trying to avoid this time around.
Here are my questions.
I'm toying with the idea of staying closer to LAX due to the early flight time on Tuesday and using the hotel shuttle morning of to get to LAX, allowing us the ability to fill up and return the rental Monday night after our visit to USH.
I don't mind a change in hotel if it makes sense. I am thinking of staying at the Courtyard Burbank on night 1, play in the pool and then pack up and check out before oday-longong visit to USH. After visiting USH, have dinner, drive to airport hotel, drop off rental and relax before our early flight. The hotel Im considering has a lower rate and a free shuttle. That is Option 1.
Option 2... stay both nights at Airport hotel and make the long drive to USH morning off (traffic??). But we avoid having to check out/check in hotels.
Option 3... Just stay both nights at Courtyard Burbank, suck it up and make the long drive early in the AM, gas us early in the AM, drop off rental early in the AM, to catch a 5:50am flight home.
Which would you do and why? TIA for input and insight.
