Need advice on taking my stroller to WDW

I will be going to WDW in Nov with my 2 year old (she'll turn 3 that week) and 6 month old. I just recently bought an expensive ($800) stroller (Baby Jogger City Select) and I LOVE it. It will be fabulous to take to the park because it is so versatile. However, I am worried about taking it on the plane (will it arrive in one piece?). I am traveling with both sets of grandparents, my brother, SIL and BIL so I know there will always be someone to watch it at the parks when we are on rides so I am not too concerned about it getting stolen. It seems silly to pay $100+ to rent a stroller when I just spent so much $$ on this stroller so I do really want to bring it, but I am interested in any advice you may have.

If you pop off the tires and fold it, will it fit in a large suitcase? What about a suitcase designed for bikes? I also think that Baby Jogger sells a travel bag.

I had the same problem with my Dreamer Design jogging stroller, but it wouldn't fit into anything. I ended up renting from Orlando Strollers.

If you still have the box, you might try to put it back in the box and check the box. (You wouldn't have it for use in the airport, but it'd be more protected that way.) I have checked a stroller in a box before. The box was technically larger than the size allowed for checked baggage, but they made an exception for the stroller. That might be at the discretion of the check-in agent though.

Otherwise, I would try to get a stroller travel bag... pack it in the bag, then gate check it.

Good luck.

Please tell me you didn't pay $800 for the stroller....if you did can you return it, that stroller is $500 everywhere I have seen it. It is a great stroller. We have the City Classic and bring it to WDW many times a year & always gate check it with no problems. You can get a travel bag for it, but we have never used one. I would not hesitate to gate check the stroller.

LOL, I was just rounding up with all the accesories-- it was $459 for the single, then $159 for the extra seat, $59 for the bassinet and $50 for the carseat attachment. I am just wondering if I should drop another $59 for the travel bag.....
