Need advice on stay at WL.

After much soul searching, we have finally settled on WL for our Oct trip.

We have never been there before, so I am looking for any advice from WL experts. We are going with my parents and my mother-in-law, so I am going to request adjoining rooms. Other than that, is there a section of rooms that is more preferable than others? Is it worth it to pay more for a non-standard view room? Any other tidbits are appreciated.

I think the rooms are all pretty much the same, either two queens or one queen and a set of bunk beds. The only thing you need to decide is which view you want... standard, woods, or courtyard. Think about your family's needs, are you balcony people? Do you enjoy overlooking the pool? Do you prefer a view of the woods? Do you want privacy or do you like people watching? Or are you the type that never open the drapes? It just depends on your personal taste.

I don't think WL really has any bad view rooms. If it was me, I wouldn't pay more necessarily to have what they consider a better view.

You have to try Whispering Canyon at least one night for dinner, it's a hoot! And if you are at all into pin trading the ladies at the pin station are super super nice!

I wasted my money for an upgraded view which was a nice waste but I think in October you have more than a 50/50 shot of getting an upgrade to a better view just by asking. We had a pool view which also gave a lake view -which was nice at night for a great view of the light show water parade from the balcony. The Wilderness lodge is our favorite to date.

Yeah, we stayed at AKL a couple years ago, and met a friend at Whispering Canyon for dinner, it was great. The food was excellent, and the atmosphere was a lot of fun, we will definitely be going there again.

Seems like the majority is saying to just take the standard view room, and maybe we will luck out when we get there. Sounds good, don't know how much time we'll be spending in the room looking out the window anyway.

We stayed at WL for our first time in Dec. and fell in love with this resort. So much so, that we're headed back in May! We had a woods view room, and we watched "Wishes" from our balcony and could hear the music and everything. We could also hear the music from MVMCP one night too. We had room 4032. Our view of the castle was through the tees, but we could still see it, Space Mtn., CR and the monorail. I would think that rooms 5032 or 6032 would be amazing!

We went in October 2003 and booked a standard room but our travel agent, Shirley at Dreams Unlimited, put in a request for a woods view room so we could see the fireworks. We got it for no extra money and it was fabulous. We were close to the elevators and away from noise. We stayed a week and saw the fireworks from our room three times. (We had DS 2 and DD 9 mos so they slept while we watched.) If this little perk is important to you, I would make the request and see what happens. I have heard that rooms that overlook the lobby can be loud, but I never thought the lobby was loud when I was there.

We were on the 5th floor.

That is a great idea. I sent the info to our travel agent at small world vacations last night, and just left her a message to put in a request for a woods view room, so we will keep our fingers crossed.
