I voted for AKL because thats the only Disney resort we've stayed at. We did enjoy it for the theming, pool and bus service. HOWEVER, everyone says the staff is excellent and I can honestly say I was disappointed by the staff. We were checked into a dirty room - apparently it had been vacant for some time and everything was covered in a thick layer of dust, dead bugs on the nightstand, vanity, etc. Apparently someone forgot to clean it. I immediately approached a "manager" (or so I thought) who assured us it would be taken care of right away. We went to the parks and returned that night to find our room untouched. Finally I got the housekeeping supervisor to come to the room and she agreed it was unacceptable; they ended up moving us to a different room far, far away and the long walk was terrible at the end of a busy day in the parks. (We were there 3 nights and did MNSSHP & all 4 parks!) I would rather have had the first room back, cleaned. I understand why the room was dirty, mistakes happen. But the follow-up "service" was horrible and I felt a manager or someone should have followed up after the fact to make sure things were better. I guess I expected more from a "Deluxe" Disney resort. I felt very invisible and not important there. I got better customer service last week while traveling across country and sleeping at a "Comfort Inn" in MO. And that was just a place to sleep for the night so I could drive again the next day.

Regardless, my daughter wants us to stay at AKL on our next trip and to be honest, I'm leary because of the service. (for the record, we were there the 3rd week in September last year when it wasn't busy at all).

Good luck on your decision!

I think it depends on the housekeeper for the area - I checked into a POP room that I would not even describe here...just think an absolutely disgusting bathroom and I bet you'd still not imagine how bad this one was!:sad2:

The room also appeared not to have been dusted in a very long time - I tried to wipe things off with wipes but the dust was too thick and just got sort of muddy- yuck!

Called housekeeping who sent up a manager - told him I wanted to change resorts (POP was full, no other roooms), but he promised to have the room cleaned while I was as MVMCP (it was now 4 p.m. and we had to meet someone at the MK at 5), and promised to have us moved if it was not acceptable when we returned. He did do the best he could.

Got back after midnight - the room was better, but not as good as it should have been. I decided to spray everything with lysol and not move because we were too tired...if we were spending one night, might as well stay.

He did set us up for VIP housekeeping and told us on our next stay at POP to call a number gave us and we would have VIP housekeeping again. Seems all this meant was they cleaned the room especially well, vacuum everyday and changed the sheets every day.

Gee, I remember the days when all Disney resorts were cleaned that way everyday. :)
