My best friend and I are planning to vacation in Orlando together next July and think the best deal would be to rent a vacation house for the two weeks we will be there. We have 12 people going all together (my family of 4, hers has 5, and her mom, dad and brother want to go as well) so we need a 6 BR. This will be their first trip and when we go every year, we stay with family so we have no idea what to look for. Any advice on vacation homes for rent would be greatly appreciated and if you could please tell me what it was like to rent. Thanks!!

Even though it's only DH & I, we've rented homes 5 or 6 times and think it's the only way to go. Nice having the space/privacy, private pool and laundry facilities (less packing - easy to throw in a load late at night or while lying out at the pool). Usually don't make full use of the kitchens (although they're well equipped), but it's nice to have snacks available, keep cereal around for breakfast, throw in a frozen pizza, etc.

I suggest checking vbro.com and highly recommend Windsor Palms area. MY SIL & I rented a 6b/3.5 bath through vbro and took her 7 grandchildren a few years back (yes, we WERE crazy ;)).

Windsor Palms is a gated community, and has an extensive recreation area (olympic pool, clubhouse w/pool tables, gameroom, cinema, basketball, tennis & volleyball courts, even a small store with basics). Easy access to WDW, especially if you use the Sherbeth Rd. shortcut. There are other nice communities nearby (Formosa Gardens, Emerald Isle, off the top of my head), but I don't believe they have those "extras".

Give me a shout if you have any more questions.

Denise < --- will never rent another vacation house at WDW again....only because we're moving to our new home in FL next month!!! YIPEE

I sent you a PM with a home that we're renting on an upcoming trip that sounds like it would work well for your needs. I just wasn't sure about posting the link to the specific home here, although I'm guessing the owner might like the free advertising. :)

As I can see from your original post you are a military family member. Is your friend or her family? Because you can rent a two condos from www.afvclub.com for a week for $249 per condo. You have to be active duty military I believe but the site can direct you. My brother rented a 3 bedroom condo last year for $249. I thought it was a great deal. I think it was Summerfield Resort or SummerBay Resort and they were very satisfied with the result. It had a full kitchen, living room, and 2 baths. It might be worth looking into. Also if you go with a vacation home instead ask if they have a military discount. Many of them do offer it. Hope that it helps and PM if you have any questions. From one military wife to another I wish you luck!

this will be our third year in a row renting a home and i absolutely love it! the space, privacy, and the luxury of some of the homes is amazing.

the best part is the private pool attached to the home.we were in it several times a day.

i rented twice in indian creek and in feb i'm going to emerald island. the homes are mostly new and these are the closest communities to wdw.

let me know if you have any more specific questions.
