Need advice Oct 06 vacation

Hello. I've been lurking since my last trip (March 05-Contemporary). I'm planning a trip for next October, any advice on getting good (read cheap) rates? 4 adults, 3 children. We're thinking about a value resort. Would a suite maybe be a better idea in a moderate resort?

I would compare the cost of 2 rooms at a Value, a suite and a Ft. Wilderness Cabin and see what you come up with. Keep in mind, at Ft. Wilderness you would have cooking facilities. So, if you aren't going with the dining plan, that can be a huge money saver too. You can eat breakfast in the cabin, eat a sit-down lunch and then grill burgers or hot dogs, make pizza, etc. for dinner. You can have your groceries delivered by (insert name here - I can't remember the service!! Someone will know) and save money that way too. 4 adults and 3 kids are going to be a lot to feed.

Ft. Wilderness is neat in October too because they have the hay rides, you can get a wagon to take you to see the fireworks, they have the free campfire and movie, lots of stuff for the kids.

Just something to think about.

moderates 5 is the max and thats at por.cabins at ft.wilderness i think 6 is the limit.i

You may want to look into renting DVC points. With a group of 7 you'll obvioudly need 2 rooms at a value or moderate resort. I'm not a resort expert by any means- but I don't think the moderate's have suites.

As for discounts. Lately, it's been more about fall packages then room only discounts. As for October, they are usually harder to come by after the first week. Since, the resorts and parks stay decently booked anyhow.

Thanks for the good info. I did look up a suite and it was more than 11,000! I'm going to wait a few weeks and take my time shopping around.
