I have already booked our trip but am now doubting myself beacuse I have not read a lot of good things about the Nick Hotel.

Please help....

For three nights (Jan 2 to the 5th) / 5 people (3 adults & 2 children) then going on the 3 day Disney cruise.

Booked - Nick hotel -$595.44 (I know very expensive but can cancel)
1 day tickets to MK for 5 -$293.16 (I have not bought yet)
Estimated food - $400.00 (hoping to eat at CP and CRT)
TOTAL - $1288.60

Quotted through Disney - POP hotel with 1 day tickets and meal plan
TOTAL - $1236.66

1) Should I switch to the POP hotel - are there a lot of advantages to staying at Disney

2) Is the POP nice?

3) Should we get the meal plan (1 snack / 1 counter / 1 table)?

4) Any where to get discounts at the POP hotel?

5) Any thing else I should consider before changing our plans?

Any advise would be greatly appreciated, I have had this booked for a month and now feel really anxious????? Thanks
:confused3

I think I would choose to stay at Pop, and do the Disney package. Staying on-site has many advantages - plus you never have to leave the magic! You are closer to the parks, and you get Disney transportation, which is extremely frequent. Not sure how many buses come/go from Nick hotel. Sometimes you get locked into certain times. Also - the meal package is great that Disney is offering right now. You can experience some real nice restaurants (Cali Grill, CRT, etc) for a great package price.

So....my vote is Pop. But, whichever you choose...enjoy your trip! :earsboy:

We haven't stayed at the Nick hotel since it was redone but stayed there when it was HIFS. The pool is supposed to be great but if you won't be there much I would say go for POP. Try booking Pop with a CAA discount then paying for your tickets and meal seperately.

My vote is on property at POP.

It is so nice getting the extra magic hours, using Disney transporation and just having the Disney magic around all the time!!!

I find when you leave the property, you also loose the magic.

I would even look at renting some points from someone on the DVC board and really go in style.

Good Luck

POP is sooo much fun! I would go for the package!
You are onsite..so much easier to get around.
I had a friend stay off site and it was so hard for her being locked into their specific bus times.

I would also stay onsite! First on all Nick hotel is way to expensive! And like you I've heard not really great things about that hotel.

Stay with the magic! Stay at Disney!!!! :flower: :flower: :flower: :flower:

Thanks everyone for your replies - I am very excited my travel agent has booked POP - you were all correct you need to be where the magic is!!!!
Now I get to start thinking about where to eat. I will start a new thread to get your dining advice!!!!

Thanks again - the DIS is fantastic!!!!

Glad that you went with POP. We will be staying there for the first time in January. I have not stayed at NICK yet but IMHO it is a holiday in itself and would be the kind of place where you would want to book a night or two and stay at the resort itself and take part in all the activities/shows/pools.
Thats what I am hoping to do in the future.
