Hi guys... :teeth:

We go to Disney in Jan. We always make sure to get a direct flight from Knoxville, TN, so here is my question....

Should I purchase a bag for my volo? :confused3 We will be checking it at the gate. So, when we fold it up should we put it in a Mac bag or leave it out?

Does the Mac bag protect the stroller in any way, or will it get damaged bacause the airport personel wont know it is a stroller and toss it around??? :worried:

Any help would be nice.....

In the past every time we get to Disney our stroller is damaged... :headache: So, I dont want this investment trashed too. How can we protect it, and make sure it get to Disney without a wheel broken, or beat up? :scared:

TIA :goodvibes

I did not use my mac bag this trip as I was worried that the stroller would end up at baggage claim since there was no way to see that it was a stroller - my older, bigger stroller bag (for the infant stroller) I have painted "baby stroller" all over and that worked last year. What I did do was pick up a clear plastic bag with a zipper that the stroller fit into. I think I found it at Marshalls or TJ Maxx-type store - it was made to store sweaters, etc in for under the bed. That way you could see through the plastic and see that it was a stroller and yet the stroller was protected and dry. It was a bit of a pain to put it in the bag at the last minute and when we got it back out there was a rip in the plastic - no problem because it only cost me a few bucks and made the trip !

My Mac has made 4 plane trips with no damage and no bag. Putting your Volo in a Mac bag has a high chance of having it sent to bag claim. A clear plastic garbage bag will protect it from water and grease, but not conceal that it is a stroller.

Macs are sturdy, you should be fine.

why not rent there? the strollers are great, easy to use, transferable, and you do not have to pack, worry about or try to fold it everytime you get on a bus/monorail?

I have to say I have had 2 different strollers ruined 3 times while travelling. My first was my large stroller when ds was an infant, it was ripped. My second was a eurotrend (i think) that i bought at babies are us...one trip they dragged..yes dragged my stroller on the handles. The pads were scratched off as well as damage to the actual handles. I was told by the airline to replace the pads...well trying to do that was not easy and 1.5 years later...it still hasn't happened. I have left messages for the airlines claims dept to get an "ok" to get a new stroller..mind I have been leaving for ages, but no return phone call. I just have been dealing with it. Then on my last trip, in september, it got tons of grease, etc all over it. Luckily it was on the back of the seat so my son could still use it. I am buying a new stroller now and I will definately be putting it in a bag!!

If they tag it at the gate with those bright colored gate check tags...do they still end up in baggage claim??

Hey guys...

Here is my update. Yes I called Delta, and if you put your stroller in a black Mac bag there is a chance it will go to the claim area....

So, I went on a mission.

I bought a bag at WalMart for 3.96

It is an under the bed bag by mainstays..... My Mac Volo fits in it with tons of room. I think any single Mac will fit in it. The back of the bag is white and the front is see through.. This way the air crew can see it is a stroller. I used a sharpie and wrote the words " STROLLER AND GATE CHECK" on it in big letters... Since the bag was so cheap I purchased two. So, if the one gets a little damage, I can use the other on the way home... The bag is also water proof.

I hope this helps you guys trying to find an way to keep your stroller a little more safe. :wizard:

Are they disinfected after every child? I am courious. Thanks!

BTW -- you don't fold up the stroller on the Monorail.

I think if that was a huge issue w/me then I would bring disinfectant wipes from home...easier to carry than a stroller :smooth:

yes sometimes they do. we fly providence to orlando..on the way down, no problem, bag shows up at gate in orlando...however every time on the way back it ends up with regular luggage! (and we go at least twice a year, it's annoying). at least PVD is a small airport :) and the trip to baggage claim is short. i am seriously thinking of getting a white paint pen and giving the bag the 'stroller - gate check' treatment!

i bag all my strollers, they are expensive brands and i do not want torn/stained fabric or broken handles and canopies.
