In order to save a bunch of money, I just changed our family trip from Thanksgiving week to a 3 day trip this weekend. To save even more money we are now staying on Staten Island instead of in Midtown. This will be the first trip to NYC that my DH and I have not stayed in the TImes Square/ Midtown area and will be the first trip to NYC for our DDs.
Since our trip is shorter we plan to make the most of our time and are hoping for a few late nights (10:00pm or 11:00pm) in the city if the DDs are able to handle them.
My question is should I be worried about our safety taking the subway from midtown and then taking the ferry at that time of night with the kids (not to mention a few American Girl and World of Disney bags?)
Or should we splurge for a cab? If so, any idea how much it would be? I tried to use fare finder but because I didn't know the exact address for the ferry it wouldn't work.
Last question, I know the tree at Rockerfeller won't be lit yet but are there other decoration up yet? I am especially interested in the store window displays.
Thanks a bunch!
