Need advice from Mama Melrose Fantasmic Package veterans!!!

Uncleromulus is going down in September with two other couples, neither of whom has seen Fantasmic. Since we had a pretty good experience with the dinner package some years ago--and since one of the couples is physically unable to stand and wait in line at the main Fantasmic entrance--we decided on the Dinner package. Fantasmic is scheduled for 8:00--but the LATEST seating I could get was 4:20!! This seems awfully early to me--last time we did the package at the Brown Derby (it was a # of trips ago) and I recall eating at about 6:00...
Anyway--those who have done the package at Mama's that early--how much time did you have on your hands before you went to Fantasmic?? And at Mama's, were you able to order from the entire menu???

We did it a while back and are doing in it again in Sept. I think it was worth it. Can't remember about the menu....

Keep checking for openings (maybe some cancellations) probably less likely that they have cancellations withing the 48hr window due to penalty. If not I wouldn't worry... an early dinner...than while most people are eating dinner you can enjoy some of the attractions...

I did the Fantasmic package at mama's a couple years ago. I don't remember what time we did it, but I remember having a Fantasmic-specific dinner menu to order from.

This is info from June '05, so, as with all things Disney, there may have been some changes.

Our seating was between 4:30 and 5 p.m. Back then, your party got flatbreads and salad to share, any entree we wanted, and I *think* we were limited to the same dessert (a little vague here.) I had chicken parm, which is a really safe comfort food most places. I don't remember what anyone else had.

Mama Melrose's is OK Italian, nothing to turn cartwheels over - what I call a "decent Disney meal", but I like the atmosphere ... really laid back and cozy, and I'm a sucker for red checkered tablecloths and exposed wood and brick.

I DO remember having plenty of time to kill between dinner and show. We just moseyed over to the ampitheater and got there early enough to have a choice seat in the reserved section. We didn't have to stand and wait at all.

I just did a search about Mama's and the Fantasmic Package--confusion reigns!! One flatbread for the "party" (6 people)?? Or two flatbreads???? Just a few entrees on that special menu (never printed anywhere as far as I can tell) or a lot?? One dessert--or 5?? Can you order a beer (or anything else "extra" for that matter)??

They seem to have made this awfully complicated--question is--is it more trouble than it's worth?????

We've done the dinner package at all 3 available Studio options. Are y'all set on Mama M.'s?

I still think that HBD is probably the best of the table service restaurants in any of the parks - it's $8/pp more than MM's on the Fantasmic plan, but I'd say it's worth it.

Nor are we adverse to buffets, and H&V's is just as good as any in the theme parks. What I recall about H&V's is an odd memory, but they had this corn spoonbread that was like a mix between creamed corn and cornbread. It sounds positively gross, but I ate a plateful of it. (Aren't I sophisticated?)

I guess the other alternative would be to eat wherever you wish, and get to the stadium in plenty of time to get a good seat. But sitting there for 90 minutes isn't too appealing to me in my old age.

We ate at Mama's last week. All of the entrees listed on allearsnet.com were on the Fantasmic menu. We were also offered a different dessert than the tiramisu.

I believe you get the flatbread (choice of two or three options, and I'd imagine you'd get more than one for six,) a salad to share served in a big bowl, choice of about six entrees and choice of two or three desserts. If you have dining plan, beverage is included. If not, I don't remember. You can pay OOP for beer, wine or whatever your adult beverage of choice might be.

I found that the dinner packages are offered at the earlier times. Maybe they know they are popular and they can fill the place early with package people and leave the "normal" dining hours for others.

I don't remember who it was, but someone posted a thread of reviews maybe last week or the week before which had the MM Fantasmic Dinner Package on it.

In it they said that you get:

- the gorgonzola salad to share between the table
- a flatbread of your choice between each group of four. So if there are 2 of you, you get one flatbread; if there are 4 of you you get one flatbread; if there are 5 of you you get TWO flatbreads, if there are 9 of you you get 3 flatbreads etc.
- ANY entree from the main menu
- ANY dessert except the happiest celebration on earth dessert which is a few dollars extra

We did the Mama Melrose Fantasmic Dinner package in July 2005. I seem to recall it was a limited menu, and any adult beverages were available at an additional cost. I think we ate closer to 6, but I think I remember reading here that some of the later times become available closer to the actual date. Keep calling to see if anything later opens up. We got lucky - we loved Fantasmic and were so happy not to have to wait in line!

Hi! We are doing the fantasmic dinner pkg at MM on the 20th of this month. Our seating is at 4:30 (the show is at 9 - check-in at 8:30).

I will gladly report back with the menu and timing when I get back at the end of the month!

Although we have never done the Fantasmic package, I can add that later dining reservation times at both MGM and MK restaurants open up much closer to the actual dates...once the park hours are morely firmly set. I would start checking a month out and not give up until about a week or two out.

Ask for Dori or Kevin....outstanding servers both.

Uncleromulus, we did this about 4 years ago and while we discovered we didn't love Fantasmic! we did love Mama Melrose's. We have been back on every trip since and never been disappointed. If we go with family, we make it our date night. This is a place where you can easily spend a couple of hours and just really enjoy yourself and each others company. Please ask for Kevin, because he is our favorite waiter at WDW. He truly makes the experience wonderful. He used to work Monday-Thursday. We're going back on Sept 20 with a party of six too. Can't wait!
