I'm planning a trip for September. We are possibly going just as the Halloweentime will be up. Any advice on others that have been in the past?

Thanks!

We go every year around September 18th to celebrate DD's Bday.

I don't really have advice but my experience is that it is not usually very busy but it is very warm.

The first few weeks of september, these rides will most likely be closed
to install there holiday overlays.

Haunted Mansion-- install Nightmare before christmas overlay
space mountain--install ghost galaxy overlay

are you planning on this time becouse you want to see the halloween decorations?
What are the dates of your trip?

We are thinking of going the 18th or the 24th of September for 3-4 days. So, I think we will avoid the overlays for the HM and Space Mt. I am wondering if the last week of Sept. is more crowded? Is that when they usually start the MNSSHP?

Sounds fun! So, the Halloween decor is up by then, correct? I really want it to be warm, we are staying at the GCH and want to use the pool in the afternoons. We have only been to DLR in Jan and Feb, and we didn't ever use the pool then! BRRR! ;)

We've been twice in Sept. Both times were very warm (high 80s-low 90s). Crowds pick up when Halloween time kicks off (we went on the first day of Halloween time in 2009) and the crowds were heavy. However, I bet it would thin out a bit and if you arrived early you'd have a good time. There will most likely be 1-2 rides down for refurb.

either of those weeks would be a good choice, overlay instalations should be done and the rides open.

The dates for mickeys halloween party have not been announced yet, but its very possible the halloween partys will start the last week of september.

have you seen the halloween superthread, heres the link.

We've been to disneyland twice in september, each time it was very warm

We've gone the past 2 mid-Septembers. I agree with everyone that the weather is warm-ish. Crowds definitely picked up on the first day of the Halloween season so be prepared for that since it's usually the second or third Friday of September. If they start doing pumpkins back by Big Thunder Ranch, you can take kids back there for a little coloring activity with Woody occasionally. I don't know if there's particular times but we caught Jessie and Woody there. The pumpkins are also fun to look at and I'm sure kids will have fun pointing out characters they recognize.

We've gone three times in September. Pick your dates wisely as there are some major events that occur in September. Otherwise September is a great time to visit! We have, however, noticed a big uptick in visitors recently as compared to our first September visit...we were spoiled by that first one!

What dates do you suggest? And what events are there besides the Marathon in the beginning of September?

We went September 22-25 last year (arrive Thursday afternoon, Friday - Sunday in the parks) and it was wonderful! It was the second weekend of Halloween so the initial crowds had thinned out. The crowds were super low on Friday and got bigger by Sunday but it wasn't bad at all! It was HOT though. Friday was humid and by the time later afternoon came, we all went back to the hotel to shower before dinner/night in the park.

We're going again this September 6-9, the weekend after Labor Day, and hopefully the Labor Day crowds will be gone, the Halloween crowds won't be there yet, and Space Mountain won't be closed quite yet for the Ghost Galazy overlay!

Thanks so much for the info. I think we might plan the 25-28 of September. So, if we are there Wed, Thurs and Friday I'm hoping for lower crowds. I bet the week after Labor Day is really low crowds!! Have fun!!

We will be there Sept 5-8 and hope you are correct about the crowds and ride closures:thumbsup2

We went last year in the middle of September and LOVED it. My husband was attending the Microsoft Build conference, so my daughters and I tagged along and went to Disneyland while he was doing his tech thing.

It was a very pleasant trip. The crowds were manageable; we got great seats for the Soundsational Parade about 30 minutes before. Wait times varied between 5 and 40 minutes. (A 40-minute wait for Toy Story Midway Mania doesn't bother me since I saw it well over an hour at Disney World. As long as the kids are happy in line, so am I.) The weather was great -- cool in the morning but definitely warmer as the day went on. Don't underestimate the need for sunscreen. And, the Halloween decorations, of course -- so much fun!!!

All-in-all, September is a great time to go. If I didn't have to pull our daughter out of school, we'd go at that time more often.

Nothing new really but... September sure is a great time to visit. We've been to Disneyland mid-september (arriving on 09/11 to be exact) and crowds were just wonderful!

Can't remember if Space Mountain was closed but Haunted Mansion was for our entire stay (we left 5 days later).

Weather was amazing. You will definitely be using that pool!

Have fun and enjoy your trip!

I am excited for September. My DD will be in 6th grade, so I feel like it might be our last year to take her out of school.....:( I will for sure bring sunscreen!

I think we will go the 18th of September in hopes that HM and SM will be open by then! Glad to hear you had good weather. We've been in Jan. and Feb. in the past, which I have loved for low crowds, but my kids are so disappointed that they couldn't swim because it wasn't warm enough. So, looking forward to California sunshine this time around! :)
