My 10 year old dd is having a hard time making any friends. She is pretty and smart but has a hard time making friends. She is not a "clicky" person and refuses to join in with the clicks which makes the click girls mad. She is very approachable and kind to everyone. She refuses to make fun or be mean to anyone. She is involved with safetly patrol, choir, softball, girlscouts and plays the guitar. Do you think it is just an age thing and maybe in junior high and highschool with blossom into a social butterfly? I ask her if she wants to invite anyone over to the house but she refuses. At lunch she will try to sit with someone and they will say the seat is saved for someone else. I just don't get it. Please I need all advice. Thanks everyone.

Kids can be cruel! My DD went through the same thing, all the way through until the 9th grade when the kids started growing up a bit. She just stayed nice to everyone & kept being herself. I told her to keep on keepin' on & be happy knowing she was a nice person. I also told her what my dad always told me. If you go through life & only have one person you can really, really call friend you are doing a lot better than a lot of other people out there. It's so hard at that age, & it doesn't get much easier. But lots of love & support from you & her family will help loads. She will connect with the certain one or few before to long & will adjust well I'm sure. She sounds like a great kid! The other kids will soon see she is a great kid too, she just needs to stay her same sweet self! Being nice to peeps who are mean to you is hard but it makes you a better person! My DD is now graduated, in college, has lots of friends, a straight A student, in the Montana Army National Guard & has a lot of drive to get where she wants to be in life. I like to think lots of love & support from the folks who matter most got her to be that way!
