Originally, we were going to be staying overnight in Ventura on a Saturday night, going on a whale watch on Sunday and then driving into Anaheim and checking into the hotel, with the first day at Disney being Monday, 2/2. But, we decided we would rather drive to Anaheim on that Saturday and check in and drive back the 93 miles to the whale watch, the next morning. Saves us from unpacking and repacking the car at an additional hotel plus the Candy Cane Inn is less $$ than the Ventura hotel.

I'm excited that we'll be getting there on a Saturday night because maybe we'll get to see fireworks now. I know I'd read that during slow seasons, they only do the fireworks on Fridays and Saturdays.

My original thought was to eat breakfast and head to the whale watch on Sunday morning, which will leave at 9:30am. I know that the parks are more crowded during the weekends because of locals. Now, I'm wondering since the Sunday would be a MM, if we would do better to hit DL on that Sunday, 2/1 and then do the whale watch on Monday, which isn't a MM day, but might be much less crowded at the parks. I realize, too, that there would probably be more traffic driving to Ventura on Monday, since it will be a work day.

Am I making sense? Is it better to use MM on a Sunday or go on a non MM for fewer crowds. Nemo is one of the rides at the top of the list since we've never been to DL before. Would the line be shorter during MM or on a Monday morning at regular park opening?

scap the whale watching, do the MM and head straight to Nemo.

save the whale watching for SeaWorld, where your atleast guarenteed a chance to see one.

We aren't really interested in seeing captive animals and won't skip the whale watch since the trip was planned around the migration, but you are saying to go on the whale watch on Monday and brave DL on a Sunday for MM, even though the crowds of locals will be arriving. Right? :rotfl:

sunday in Jan. is pretty quiet all the locals would have flooded to DL for Dec.
come Jan, we're still paying Christmas bills. LOL

I'd do the MM on sunday.

I really hope you get to see some whales, post and let me know if you do.
I've been in SoCal 10 years and have never seen one.

Thanks. It'll actually be 2/1. It would be great to have a full day at the park and then a day watching the whales instead of doing 3 days straight, at the park.
