Going on the 3 land/4 sea on 3/3/05 and staying at the AKL for the land portion. Have read about the wonderful concierge service offered at AKL and was wondering if anyone has upgraded to concierge and how they did it. Should I wait until I get to the hotel or call DCL asap? Was also wondering how much more this service will cost for the 3 nights.
This is our first cruise and I would like to thank everyone on this site for all the useful info! I would be lost without it!!!!!!!!!!

Concierge at AKL is a different room category and generally costs substantially more - generally about $100 more per night. Note you are not guaranteed a savannah view room with concierge but I think almost everyone (if not everyone) gets one. If necessary, they will put concierge guests on the 5th floor instead of the 6th floor concierge level, to get you a savannah view (this happened to us).

The concierge lounge is a nice place to relax and grab a quick breakfast or snack. Be aware that "food" is only offered during certain times. I do believe they always have some beverages and snacks out. Check in is also a breeze since you can bypass the lines downstairs and check in at the concierge lounge.

If you plan on spending a fair amount of time at the resort, it might be worthwhile since you will be able to take better advantage of the concierge lounge. Be realistic - you are not going to eat and drink a $100 worth of food in the lounge every day so don't think of this as a way to save money. Also, the rooms and views really are no different than a deluxe savannah room. The extra $$ is really for the convenience.
