Need advice booked res to rented points

Ok DISers I need help. So I booked my April 2016 AKL-CL studio for six nights using some of 2014 Dec UY points (the rest were banked July 31) BUT now my mother wants to rent points and take all 12 of us the week later to stay in a GV.
Please advise what I should do with my points. Will I lose? Will they go into Holding? If so, should/can I put them towards the GV res?
I just don't want to lose my points.

They would only go into holding if you cancel 30 days or less prior to checkin. It's too late to bank 2014 points, you could bank 2015 points. You could book the GV, whole nights only.

I'm a little uncertain if your saying you booked with banked 2014 points, but believe that's the case. If so, those points will need to be used by Nov 31, 2016 or they will expire. If you don't have a second trip that would use the points by then you should think about using them towards the GV. You will need to book entire days although if instead of renting your mother arranged for a point transfer of AKV points into your membership then you could use whatever number of your points with the transferred points.

Yes I used 2014 points. I had 91 remaining at July 31 so I banked those for 2015. So if I cancel the already booked res more than 31 days those points will go towards another trip before they expire Nov 30,2016 or I could put those towards the GV. Ok maybe looking into transfer? Thanks for clearing things up. I always can book a trip I was just worried that 2014 points would expire in 2015. Maybe it's the DEC UY that trips me up.

Yes, your Dec 2014 points would have been available for stays between Dec 1, 2014 and Nov 30, 2015 so once you banked them they became available for stays from Dec 1, 2015 to Nov 30, 2016.

Since OP seems to be the owner in the family and the suggestions was the family to look to transfer points into OP's account, not to transfer out to whomever they rent from. That way they will have control of the reservation and can use some of their own points that might otherwise expire. Finding a transfer of points needed for a GV could be difficult however.
