image.jpg so we just checked in at the GCH and I need your advice on what to do... My DD 8 and DS 1 were climbing on the bed and under it found two sanitary napkin wrappers and one used napkin!! My kids were poking it asking what's this mom- I was NOT happy!!! I called maid service- they came in threw it away and left. We called them back because they still left garbage under the second bed and didn't clean at all! They vacuumed under the garbage bed then left, not cleaning under the other dirty napkin bed at all... I went to talk to the manager who said I'll treat you to Storytellers lunch while they clean your room- it's the least we could do. I felt like it kind of WAS the least they could do! I'm waiting to hear what they are going to do as far as cleaning as moving rooms not really an option as we really want to keep the view we have. I'm really upset about what we found and that my kids found it- then the maids came in and barely cleaned telling me sorry we just forget to check under there sometimes... So my question is what should I do- I feel like for $500+ a night some further compensation should be given but what is fair and what would be appropriate for this situation? I want to be clear I'm not trying to take advantage of this but simply be compensated for the issue appropriately so I don't leave feeling upset and paying so much for complete filth (I'm still Leary of allowing my kids in the room now!!) so what would you do if it were you? I love the front desk staff and it won't kill our magic but I'd like to fix this to make our first day here a little better- Tia!!

WOW!!! As much as you have to pay to stay there I would say that forgetting to clean under the beds really shouldn't be an option it should be automatic! I would def be leary of walking around barefoot and such and for someone to even do that is ridiculous! I don't know what to tell you about what it should be worth but as much as you have had to pay for the room I would expect a little more too I think.

I wouldn't switch rooms. But I'd want to observe them vacuuming under the bed where you found the napkin. If I switched rooms I'd be worried that they didn't vacuum at all, at least in the room you're in now you know they did.

This is a Sanitary thing! Used Napkin.... uh GROSS! This is the GRAND Californian, not the Motel 6, but either way its plain wrong! Thats kind of hard to miss.... IF they had looked under the bed! They are not doing their cleaning job!
I do not know what I would ask for, but they would be lucky if I did not report them to the Health Dept!

Nasty!

That is pretty disgusting. I would be upset as well, and feel kind of "icky" about it. However, I do think that a free lunch at Storyteller's while they more thoroughly clean your room is good compensation. The issue gets resolved and your family gets to enjoy a special experience. It sounds like a good deal to me.

I would be fine with that compensation, Keeps everyone busy and happy.
Is your room paid for since you are on a prize winning trip?

I agree, the situation is definitely ICK, but if they came in to take care of it and offered you Storyteller's to try to make up for it, I'd be happy with that. Guests are gross and maids are often overburdened with rooms. It shouldn't have happened, but they are offering compensation.

No- if my room was paid for it would be totally different. We are staying 6 nights out of pocket not including the prize nights. If we weren't paying $500+ a night it would be a totally different story as far as my expectations.

I ended up having to complain multiple times to multiple supervisors before we finally were able to get it cleaned not just vaccumed. It is now cleaned and they gave us a small credit to use when we charge to the room. I probably should have insisted they not charge us for tonight but everyone was nice and after dealing with it for hours with a cranky toddler and a hyper excited 8 year old I was ok with a partial credit we will end up using in the parks anyway lol thanks for the advice everyone- I had no idea what to think when I saw my kids poking a dirty sanitary napkin just under the bed when we checked out our room lol

I tried to be nice about it for sure but it was a little scary how the maid service dealt with it after. We called them first and they said oh we forget to check there sometimes (well at least she was honest lol). Then they picked it up and left. Then we called them back and they vaccumed under the other bed only... After complaining to the supervisor twice more they said they used cleaner. We had to really fight just to confirm they cleaned and not just vaccumed. We tried to confirm what they used to clean since it involved body fluids but couldn't figure out that far- it was too hard to get someone that might know lol oh well- I wiped everything down as I always do with Clorox wipes and will act as if it's clean and hope it really was lol either way I still love the GCH and will continue to stay here with hopefully a cleaner room next time haha

I would not be satisfied with that outcome. I would continue to escalate and it's OK that they know you are mad and upset.
We had a far less disgusting situation last year and GC comp'd us for the night, gave us several sets of Fast Passes and a lovely meal. Without me asking.

Yeah I honestly would have expected that especially since we are paying for 6 nights at such a premium rate! It was so fustrating to try to get a manager to talk to us at all that by the time they did anything (that took a long time and a lot of effort) I was so had it and so was my whole family we just needed to nap and hit the pool. I may talk to someone else tomorrow if I'm not calmer by then but at least they did something finally lol thank you for responding- it makes me feel better for feeling so upset and disgusted about it all!

Yikes, I'm so sorry you are having to deal with that! This makes me nervous for our stay there in March. Your story, and the reports of run down rooms makes me reconsider staying there.
I know you are still probably upset, but at this point I would probably let it go and promise yourself to write a letter when you get home. You don't want this incident to sour any more of your trip, especially if management still doesn't compensate you any further tomorrow.
I hope the rest of your trip is amazing, and I know we are all anxiously waiting to hear what surprises they have in store for you!
