I just settled down our dates for our June trip, and I booked a CY view at the WL.

We have stayed at the WL on previous trips (the most recent last weekend ;) ) and I love staying in a room overlooking the lobby. On this trip, I would love to have the same location, overlooking the lobby, but would really like to have a king bed.

Has anyone ever stayed in a king bed lobby room? If so, would you mind providing me with the room number so that my request can be specific?

Thanks!!! :thumbsup2

Let me try to convince you NOT to request a specific room number.

If you request a specific room number, chances are that the room will be taken ... the resort itself only gets reservation info maybe 5 days in advance, so if 6 days before your vacation they booked someone in there for a week, it's not even like they were aware of your request at the resort level.

So let's say that room number is unavailable. All the room assigner knows is you requested a room number ... he or she has no idea WHY you requested that room number. The room assigner is left to wonder ...

... is it your lucky number?

... did you honeymoon in that room?

... did you play that number in the lottery to pay for your trip?

As a result, the room assigner will just put you in any old room (actually, in this case you wouldn't be pre-assigned a room, since you have no do-able requests, and at time of check-in the computer will tell the front desk CM what room to give you).

You will be MUCH MUCH better off wording a request the way you worded it here, such as "king bed lobby room."

Thank you for your advice. However, I was just asking for a room number so that it can be added to my requests, not the ONLY request.

Thanks anyway. :thumbsup2

There are so few of these rooms available (14-15) we call them the "Bear Face Rooms" over on the Wilderness Lodge FAQ Thread. There are a couple of these Courtyard Rooms that do have a King size beds but I'm sorry I don't have a specific room # :confused3

Good luck on your quest for a nice king bed room! Twice I have been assigned king bed rooms at WL (which I never asked for), and both times I was assigned rooms on the ground floor in very undesirable locations. One room was literally feet away from the loading dock. And both rooms were handicapped-assessible, so forgot a bathtub. I have since learned that most king rooms at WL are handicapped-assessible and located on the ground floor (which makes sense for safety and fire code reasons for people using wheelchairs). Since I travel solo, I "have" to be placed in an unneeded king bed HA room, so the double bed rooms are free for larger families. My requests were meaningless. :(

So good luck getting a king bed room off the ground floor and overlooking the lobby! I had zero luck with such things! :sad2:

"King bed, room overlooking the lobby" is pretty darned specific, especially given the very few rooms that fall into this category.

The Room Assigner will know which rooms fall into the category requested. Adding a room number to your requests makes it more likely you'll be given an adjacent room - with queen beds - than a room on a different level than the room you requested.

also i have found that multiple request usually dont happen. be happy if you get 1...

we are also staying in June. The lodge will be at full capacity so specific requests are going to be a longshot!

best bet? check-in early because its kinda of first come-first serve for specific requests.
