Hi Kiki02. Did you want a real or artificial tree? For real, prices vary widely from place to place. It will depend where you are.

How do you define "budget priced?" $50? $10?
Exactly. As I recall fresh trees start at about $50 here....from the advertising signs at the tree lots. I have to admit we have had an artificial tree for the past 30 years, so no first hand experience.

We had to go artificial due to health issue a few years back. We got ours at Target, the week before Christmas for like 80% off or something absurd. It's a lit 7 footer and was marked down from $350ish to... I think we paid $40. Anyway, they discount the artificial trees in December, so it's worth checking there when you're ready to purchase.

Can order on line but yes, fake tree. Did you or can I find a 7 foot tree for $40.00? Thanks all for replies above!

Was at Target yesterday and they are having a sale on prelit trees. There was a very nice Alberta spruce 7.5ft white or colored lights for $102! My daughter bought the 6ft one and it really looks nice! She stood in the store and ordered it in store pick up from her phone. She added the code Trees and got an additional 5% off for a total of 25% off. Her tree was originally $60 and she got it for $42.

I'd check your local thrift shops; our local ones have nice trees for $35-75 and they all looked in fine condition. Of course this could vary by area but it's a good place to start.

Just my $0.02, but if you find a shorter tree for price in your budget, can you put it on a table, box, or stand to make it the height you want? You could decorate the stand as a present or get creative with decorating the base.

I did a google search for 'christmas tree on table to make taller" and saw some cute ideas to include using a shipping crate or antique trunk. Is it going to be indoor or outdoor? A big plastic planter like you see in a foyer you could put a base in the planter then the tree on top to make it taller. I see some elegant trees on tables in foyers, etc.

If you mean live trees, call your local garden center that sells trees. The one here always has a bunch of tall trees, but they sell really early, and you have to call to 'reserve' one of them. But tall trees aren't that budget friendly (and I'm in CT, so it's not like they are traveling as far as they would if I lived somewhere down south) Even a regular 6" one costs about $50. The year I had a 9 foot tree, I paid close to $100 for it.

Actually, North Carolina is the #2 grower of Christmas trees in the United States (behind Oregon) and grows more Fraser firs than any other state, so we don't have to travel far to cut our own tree, and trees in lots are brought in from a few hours away each weekend. But I agree that a 7 foot live tree will be about $50 in our area.

Wow. I did not know that! Very interesting. I know that around here I see lots of Canadian trucks full of trees on the back in Nov/Dec around here, and I always just assumed they were going all over the place.

They probably are going all over the place. :-) And if you want another type of tree other than Fraser fir around here, it is slim pickings. But I love the Fraser fir the best, so it works out nicely for us.
