Need a small gift idea for a 5 yo boy.

Any recommendations for a small gift ($10) range for a 5 yo boy? DH and I are going out tonight with DH's friend and his son.( Boy's mom is away visiting family) We're going out to eat and then to a folky/rock concert. Maybe something to keep him interested through dinner. I don't know the boy at all, so am really open to all suggestions. TIA

How about a few Matchbox cars?
It's been a while for me, my youngest is 12, but I used to buy them by the 5 pack for under $10 back when he was little. Having more than one car to play with should keep him entertained for a while, and they will fit into a pocket (ok, maybe not his tiny pockets, but your friend's) when he is not playing with them

My DS5 loves to color & do the activity placemat while we wait for our food so you could get him an activity book with something to color or write with. Sticker books are also a great way to keep them busy & they have lots of versions of those. Another thing we take to keep the kids busy is either a deck of cards to play war or the game Uno.

Mighty Beanz are a big hit with boys--they have 3 styles including Star Wars & Super Heroes versions. They have some small lego kits that are inexpensive & would keep him busy.

Those are the first things that came to mind--at that age he'll just be happy that someone thought of him! You really can't go wrong!
