Need a scooter for grandma

I will be visiting Disney World in September and have recently injured my foot. I am able to walk very short distances and am wondering if I would be better off renting a scooter from the individual theme parks when I visit each one or renting a scooter from an outside source. If I rent from an outside source, how difficult is it to visit Animal Kingdom or Typhoon Lagoon or Hollywood Studios since we will be staying at Bay Lake Towers?

I would rent from an outside company for several reasons. One would be cost. Off site rentals are cheaper and easier to handle. Another reason would be that you would have it anywhere you went. You can't rent one at Typhoon Lagoon. The last and most important would be that there is no guarantee that there would be one available to rent at the parks. They are on a first come, first serve basis.
