We have a reservation for 8 nights at WL in Aug. We are a family of 4 - 2 adults and a 13 year old and a 9 year old (both girls). My best friend lives in FL and has decided she'd like to join us for 5 nights. We have been to Disney every year for the past 3 years and have always stayed off-site before and she tends to join us each year, but off site we have just had her stay in our room with us.

I know WL standard rooms are limited to 4 people, so I'm debating whether I ask her to book her own room (she never has much money and I hate to have her spend that much for a big room for only herself) OR are there other options for rooms for 5 at WL. Do any rooms besides standard sleep more than 4??

We can't afford to spend much more than we are now, but I know she will chip in if we get a bigger room to accommodate her.

Any advice?

The WL's "deluxe rooms" do sleep 5. They are more a night then the standard room though.

The deluxe rooms have 2 queens and a sleeper sofa in the livingroom. More money but you'll have more room.

Thanks!

I just looked at Disney's official website to see what the price difference was between standard and deluxe. It says standard rooms are $199/night and up and deluxe rooms are $390/night and up. That's almost a $200/night difference. For that price, we might as well get 2 rooms - thus 2 bathrooms.

Does anyone know if that is what they actually cost? We are getting a package on our current room through AAA and got a 15% discount, so we're paying $169/night right now.

My friend is a FL resident and is considering buying an AP. I'm thinking she might have a better chance of getting a better rate on her own.

That is what they cost, they once were listed as junior suite. Very rarely are they discounted. She should be able to check on Florida Resident prices closer to August.

Since your friend is a FL resident why don't you guys try to book a room at a deluxe resort that sleeps five (GF, Poly, CR, etc) and use the FL resident discount?

That's what I was thinking. Doesn't the CR have 2 double beds and a daybed/ sofa? it's still in the MK area.

Why do you suppose anyone would book a deluxe room then? If they are double the price of standard, why wouldn't folks just get 2 standard rooms??

If you book the reservation and tell the CM you have 5 in your party then you automatically get the two queens with a daybed type of room. ;)

We looked at the deluxe rooms last year because it had a sofa - more comfortable for relaxing, watching TV, etc.

I would guess it's for people who need the extra space and want to be all in the same room together. We considered doing it because of the double french doors that separate the bedroom from the living room area. We thought it would be perfect with our young kids. :) (but we've never been able to get the deluxe room at a discount)

Thanks everyone. We have our hearts set on WL. Fell in love with it when we ate at WC last Oct. So switching to another resort is not an option for us. The deluxe sounds like a perfect option, except for the cost! YIKES!

I'll have to talk to her and see what she wants to do.
