We've been only staying on-site since the introduction of the MBs, but this upcoming February we're staying off-site and I bought tickets separately. So can we bring one of our old MBs to link up to current tickets? Or would I have to buy new ones? Could my MIL use one of our old ones, or are they linked to you on your account?

On that note, I just bring my ... what? To the gate to get the tickets? Print out my conf? It's been over a decade since I had to do it this way, I feel so stupid.

you can use your old band just link your ticket to your MDE and you should be fine ( I go to Disney on day trips and never had a problem using my MB) you can NOT give your MIL one of your old bands but you can buy one for here and the CM can link the band for her when you buy it.

If you bought your tickets online from Disney, your tickets should be waiting in MDE for you to assign to yourself and the other members of your part. If you bought from a third party (UT, PS, etc.), they should have sent you instructions on associating the tickets with your MDE. Most tickets are virtual these days unless you don't want to use Magic Bands. MBs aren't transferable (that's why they each have the user's name on them), so your MIL will need her own MB. But that's not an expensive purchase either.

Link the tickets to each persons MDE account, then whichever bands that person has, their tickets are already connected and ready to go.

MBs aren't transferable once their linked so she would need to get her own MB. If she wants one of course, you don't need them.

As far as what to bring, as long as everyone has tickets linked your fine and all you would need to bring is your magic bands and always bring ID with you. In today's day and age, if you have a smart phone then there's no reason to print anything out

same day has worked so well the second half of this year, I don't even try to preschedule anything but the hardest to get rides (FEA, 7dmt) and that's if I know ahead of time I'm heading into wdw on a certain day most of the time it's spur of the moment for me.

They've really improved the system to make it fairer for each type of traveler. maybe you won't get the time you want, but you do get some.
