Dh and I (both disney freaks) have just purchased a new home. We have been planning our "Disney rec room" since we were married. And always said we would love to have a Disney Mural on our wall. Well this past weekend we found a company at a Home Show that will take our photo and make it into a full size wall mural (wallpaper).

The problem, and this is where I need your help, is that we need a photo that has been taken with a very high quality camera (more than 10 mp). First ours is only an 8 and secondly....we kind of suck at taking pictures!

If you were adding this to your walls, which one of your photos would you want added to your home? We are undecided but have thought of Main street with the castle at the end, a castle shot with partners statue, the railway station from outside the gates, epcot from world show case.....so many places have special meaning for us!

Would any of you be willing to help us out by posting your personal choice here and perhaps sending us the original file for the pic we decide to use?

you could probably make a collage of different shots, and have that made into a mural., say a file size of 20x30 ..that way you wouldn't have to narrow it down to one pic, plus doing it that way, you wouldn't be enlarging one pic quite as much and the end result should be better

would you mind sharing the name of the company

If I were going to do something like that, I would use andrea Mosaic to build a large image of a picture you love, using your other pictures. Gdad has a couple of good examples of what it will do. They had many of those types of pictures up during the 50th anniversery celebration at DL they were very very cool. Only one left in the park and here is a picture of it.

It seems to me that even a 12mp image on a wall is going to look, um, "rough" when viewed close at all.

Let's assume that the wall is 9 feet tall at 13.5 feet wide (4x6 aspect ratio). That's 121.5 square feet of wall to cover. Now let's assume that you have a 12 megapixel photo with a matching aspect ratio. That's about 12,000,000 pixels. That works out to a bit under 100,000 pixels per square foot. So that's something like 300 pixels per foot.

A typical print is something between 240 and 360 pixels per inch. A computer screen is typically something like 72 to 100 pixels per inch. Here you are talking about 25 pixels per inch. Admittedly, it could look great from a viewing distance of several feet. Just be aware that when you get up close, it's going to be less than detailed.

Thanks everyone for your input. We saw a few they had done and they were photo quality. I don't know what their process (I am obviously less than knowledgeable in this area) is as they enlarge.

The company is www.muralunique.com they are a Canadian company.

Thanks Mason for the offer I can't wait to go through your photos!!

That's a great idea! :thumbsup2 Sorry I can't help. I have a Nikon D50 with less than 10mp. However, if I were to do it in my home, I would use this picture I took in January, 2007...

Sounds like they may transfer a photo to canvas? They may edit it in photoshop before they print too.
Are you installing, or having someone do it for you?
Thanks

Haven't decided about the install.....its pricey so it would be nice to save money on install. On the flipside, if we are paying that much we don't want to take a chance of messing up the install!!!
