Ok so we are off to Disney 1st week in May with hubby 6yr old son and 8month baby. I get out my summer clothes and try on my shorts......yup..they wont fasten..and I mean by about 4 inches...no amount of rolling on the bed and wrestling with them would budge them one inch...I dont know what to do...upon discovering this I have been on a strict diet but the weight is just not coming off quick enough..I still have the baby fat I put on when I was preggy....argh...what makes it worse is you see all these stars on TV flaunting their bods and showing they lost the baby fat in weeks....sheesh...8 months later and Im still 25lbs heavier....as I said...I need a miracle...my budget really didnt include buying new shorts...and to be honest I really dont want to...SOB!..I may never fit in my skinny shorts again.
Hubby is no help..he says I should just big a larger size and give the smaller ones a proper burial..so naturally I blame him...if he didnt get me pregnant I wouldnt have put on the weight...(gotta blame someone other than me right!)

I agree with your DH! Seriously, don't torture yourself about it. It's taken me almost 20 months to get my body back into some kind of resemblance to where it was before. (Thankfully, I was still a little fluffy then) It takes time, lipo, or 5 hours a day at the gym! Give your poor body a break, it created a whole new person :) Just buy some comfy shorts and let your body heal itself. :goodvibes

I would not stress over it either but if you wanted to still give it a try I would suggest these work out videos if you have time. (The latest additions to Jillian's line are two brand-new DVDs, No More Trouble Zones and Banish Fat Boost Metabolism)
I am a personal trainer(just certified, don't actually do anything with it) and I also would go to the gym every day for about an hour until I was looking on comcast on demand and saw these 2 workouts under the fitness part. I knew of Jillian bc of biggest losser. I checked them out and I notice more of a difference in my body now then I did going to the gym every day. They are about 48 min long that you can do right in your home and you have the ability to stop when you want and even alter her moves to more of what you are comfortable with..........she even tells you how. In one you will need light weights like 2lbs.
This is just a suggestion but as your DH said just go buy some shorts that you are comfortable with. Give your self a break and don't stress bc that is NOT going to help you loose the weight. It will come off, it may just take some time. Good Luck!

I agree w/ PP ~~ enjoy yourself & be comfortable.

With that said, I have lost about 60 pounds in the past year. (still have 50 to go IMO but it didn't take me a year to put on the weight so I know it'll take a little longer to get it off) What did I do???

None of this applies if you are nursing as feeding a baby takes precedence over the # in the tag of your shorts!

-burn more calories then you eat-- exercise excerise move move move! Bad new is only way to know the # of calories you eat is to measure out portions and record them in a journal... you may be surprised... if you don't have a calorie counter book (I got mine @ walmart for 4.95), then just go to Calorieking.com it lists most stuff.
Do not eat less then 1,000 calories a day as your body will then turn to your muscles for energy and your biggest muscle is your heart. I eat between 1,000 to 1,200 but no more then 1,500 calories a day. My Dr. told me once I get to the weight I want to be to gradually increase my intake to 2,000 which is all you need to maintain your weight. the first day or two was hard, I was hungry, but I "snacked" on low calorie snacks to fill me up.

-limit processed foods... 98% of what we eat is fresh meat veggies fruit.

-drink tons of water, and then drink some more

These 3 changes have changed my life.
Its never as much fun to lose the weight as it is to put it on! Good Luck

I know exactly how you feel, I was struggling with my clothes on our last vacation (August 08). When we got back, I vowed that this weight thing was over!
I stopped drinking pop, started drinking lots of water and eating off of a dessert plate instead of a dinner plate and walked and walked and walked.
We'll be back at Disney in June and I will be wearing a smaller size!
You can do it too, maybe not for this vacation but for the next! It takes time to lose that good ole baby weight but once it's gone.....it's gone!!

GOOD LUCK AND ENJOY YOUR VACATION!

Dont worry about it. You have two months and you can achieve alot by that time. I will tell you an easy way to get rid of the belly fat - try power walking it has given me amazing results which nothing else has. I have had 3 kids and after my last one nothing worked (i was a member of Curves also). It wasnt until i read an article on doing power walking did the weight & belly fat come right off. I am by no means a skinny minny and always had a bit of a tummy but doing this really works and i felt my stomach get flatter and my clothes fitting very nicely. I did lose pounds doing this. I would walk about 5 times per week anywhere from 30-45 mins at a time or you can break it up go 20 mins in the morning, 20 mins after dinner. I go from a normal pace to faster pace, alternating during the time of fast and a little bit faster. Buy yourself and ipod. Last year i started the walking in May and by July i looked & felt absolutely great so when our vacation came in August i was all set.

if you can possibly work up to an hour towards April that would be great and you dont have to go crazy with your diet. I find when i do the walking i can eat whatever i want in moderation and not have to feel bad about it.
Just drink water, eat some carbs but dont go crazy, protein drinks, whole grains, nuts, chicken, veges, etc.... try to eat foods that stabilize your blood sugar such as oatmeal, whole grains, proteins
and im telling you this will work wonders. Since getting the great results i have kept up the walking religously and like i said i can actually eat things in moderation without pudging out. When i didnt walk even the littlebit bit of food would make me pudge out. Once you change your diet a bit and do the walking you will feel great and food wont take over your thoughts too much.
Definitely give it a try.

I lost 50 pounds of pregnant weight in 5 months just by walking 2 miles everyday. That does not include the 15 additional pounds I lost in the hospital having baby #1 who weighed in at 9 pounds and 6 ounces. You can do it. You just have to make sure you make the time to walk. I did it first thing in the morning before I did anything else right after brealfast. You will get it off and you will feel great! Good luck!

Great advice! I too have put on lots of baby fat ( DS was over nine pounds too) and having a hard time taking it off! Hubby has lost a ton of weight by just thinking it off and I eat a leaf of lettuce a day and not lose a pound! It's not fair but I plan on walking as soon as this arctic freeze is over up north here! My DD goes to preschool three days a week so I figure that would be a good time to throw DS in his beloved stroller and walk for twenty minutes or more! If that doesn't work then it's off to the physician for a thyroid check. I joke but it does run in my family:(

Good luck to all the new moms ok losing the dreaded baby fat!

I always did great when I was younger losing the preg weight, the 4th child I was 40 and I actually gained weight AFTER she was born. I put on 9 lbs with the pregnancy, I could not keep things down except fresh fruit, turkey breast and some cheeses.
I went up 40 lbs, my thyroid was out of whack and the weight never came off. I was going through menapause and still have it on....

The only way to lose it is increase activity devote to walking everyday, and cut calories.

Otherwise until it does come off, you may have some nice stretch shorts from your preg days that will fit. You may hate to do it, but at least not give up and buy bigger ones.

I know at Walmart I could find stretch make do clean around the house shorts, but some maternity ones are really nice and won't chafe while there in May.
Good luck and it is only March,

If you don't have a scale get one. I know they say don't weigh yourself too much, but I find it's the only thing that helps me. You can easily dismiss your pants getting a little tighter (they shrunk in the dryer) but the numbers don't lie. I weigh myself every day now and it's the only thing that keeps me from shoving cookies in my mouth when I get bored!

I've lost about 3-4 pounds in about 2 weeks by just cutting back on snacks and really paying attention to what I put in my mouth. I took a walk today with my DD and I'm going to try to walk at least every other day.

Take a deep breath, start walking and adding water. Then a few weeks before you leave if they don't fit, I recommend Salvation Army or Amvets. Summer clothes will be on sale by then and seriously you can find some great deals very inexpensively. Then remind yourself your good just the way you are and enjoy the trip.

Just remember that there is no "miracle" weight loss! Losing weight is a simple equation: burn more calories than you take in. Simple equation, but the execution isn't always as easy!

Don't starve yourself. Your body needs a certain number of calories to carry out basic funtions (like breathing lol). Deny your body those calories and your weight loss won't be as effective. Do find out the calories your are consuming each day; you would be surprised at what you find.

Move more. You don't have to do crazy, Biggest Loser type workouts. Walk, garden, roller skate, swim...just don't be tempted to eat back those calories you just burned.

25 lbs is a tall order for two months; the safe rate of loss is no more than two pounds a week. Do your best before your trip, get some clothes that fit when the time comes, and enjoy your trip knowing you really put forth the effort and are happier and healthier than you are today!

Good luck! You CAN do this!

Do you have any maternity shorts that would pass as regular shorts?

As far as losing the weight, it varies for everyone. I am preggo with number four and am nervous of losing it this time because of my age (36). Excersise is a must. Look for Denise Austin or the Fit TV network and start taping some shows and do them! Drink lots of water, weigh daily, and write down what you eat. If you are accountable, you are less likely to eat! Make a fruit smoothy for breakfast with a banana, frozen strawberries and milk. I lost 42 lbs that way about 4 years ago (in less than 6 months). Not actually baby weight, I had gained it before I had babies. Good luck!

You can go to goodwill and buy a bunch of shorts that will fit.

Then when you get to where you want to be on your weight, just donate them back to goodwill.

I say start walking, everyday. 2 miles a day in the morning before dh leaves for work and 5 on weekends. Not only will this help with weight loss, it'll ge you ready for WDW! Its amazong how sendetary we become staying hom with the kids. Get moving. It will help alot especially if you are being really careful with your diet.

its about 1 1/2 per 10lbs, so 25 lbs sounds right. Have you thought about borrowing vacation clothes from some friends?

Why add the extra stress? Buy yourself some larger shorts and leave the tags on. Start eating healthy and exercising and when the trip is closer try the clothes on again. If they fit then great, return the larger ones, if not then you can at least be comfortable and have clothes that look nice on you.
