Advance planning here. I will be heading to DLR for the Christmas festivities next year. Odds are I will be using an ECV and will be carless. I don't think I can count on hotel shuttles being able to accommodate my rental ECV, so either Disney hotels or a Good Neighbor that is very close. I will be solo for at least four or five days. Inside corridors are a must. Recommendations?

My first thought was good old Best Western PPI. But the corridors are outside. That leads me to HoJo's - a little further but corridors are inside.

Good luck!

red lion. we stayed there last week. i think it's about a 10-15 minute walk, but the toy story parking lot is right next door, so you could always catch the shuttle there

Price range? If price is no object I always stay at the Grand Californian. If on a budget, I have always stayed at the Tropicana. I love both, but as you can imagine the Grand is just....... Grand.... :)

Disneyland Hotel, Grand Californian, HoJos or the Hilton. Paradise Pier is also on property, but seem to always have a long wait for the elevator.

I've stayed at both the Grand (ABD Backstage Magic twice) and Disneyland Hotel, but this trip will probably be more budget. I'd love to do the Grand again, but they are SOOOO pricey. And I MIGHT consider an outside corridor. Maybe Paradise Pier, but I prefer the DTD side of the park.

DTD side of the park you only options really outside of the Paradise Pier are the Annabella and the Holiday Inn on S. Walnut...neither of which are by any means "close".

Not that there are not busy times, but in my past four stays at the PPH hotel within the past year, I have inly experienced an elevator backup once.

Sometimes you have to go up to go down, for the elevators at PPH.

And when you're going TO your room, just snag the "glass" elevator in the middle of the lobby.

Although the Grand isn't on my own personal list of faves, and PPH rates higher for me, I agree overall with your list.

Ramada Plaza at the corner of Harbor and Katella, or Desert Palms on the opposite corner, could also make it into consideration, but you'd want a good battery pack on the scooter for getting to, around, and from the parks.

I've read reviews from trustworthy posters that the private shuttle at the Candy Cane Inn was able to handle an ECV and that the drivers were very friendly and helpful.

We just came home a couple weeks ago from our first trip to DL. Wdw vets here. We stayed at the Tropicana and I had an Ecv. But there is not an inside corridor. I asked for and was able to get a room on the ground floor and near the front of the motel, actually a few doors down from the office. And the place was great, clean, beds were comfy, and they were very nice. Only odd thing was there was no bath tub, just a shower. Not sure if that's all rooms or we just got an odd one. It was super easy to get in an out and get to the parks, the parks are very close. Just need to go out of the motel , past the Best western to the light and cross at the light. Never had a problem with that at all. There was a little shop right across from the office there for small food items, and this great little pizza place, Pizza Press, was just around the corner. As was the place that I rented my Ecv from, they delivered and picked up super quick, and I really like their ecv's, they drove really nicely, and they lasted all day long. I was with my DD25, we didn't have a car to sue and it was easy to get wherever we needed to. According to a map I linked to, it was about a half mile from our motel to the end of DTD, by the Disneyland hotel. A few random things you didn't ask for, lol, hopefully some are helpful.

I would cross Paradise Pier off your list. We have stayed there many times previously and never had a big problem with the elevators. I believe we were always on floor 8 or lower. However, on our last trip we were on the 12 floor and the elevator situation was horrible. Many people on lower floors would ride the elevators up to go down. So elevator after elevator would come completely full. I remember one lady in an ecv had to find a staff member every morning and take Her in the service elevator. We just ended up taking the stairs most days. Or I guess just ask for a lower floor.

That wasn't *causing* the elevators to be full. They were doing it *because* the elevators were full. Everyone gets desperate if they are all leaving at the same time.

(for anyone with strollers, please, for the love of us all, don't USE them until you're out of the elevators...4 adults and two strollers fill up way more space than two folded up strollers, 4 adults, and a couple of kids being held.)

I never thought to ask for help and use the service elevator. I had days it would take almost a half hour for me to get on an elevator (using an ECV) at PPH. Most elevators arrived full, or if I was on the ground floor, others would surge onto the elevator around me and fill it up. It was very frustrating. I've never had this problem at DHL or GCH.

As for staying offsite, the closest motels all have outdoor corridors. The Castle Inn, was great; very easy to navigate with the scooter. BWPPI was horrible. They put me in a room on the third floor across from a staircase. I had to be VERY careful getting over the lip in the doorway while not ending up going down the staircase. It was extra fun the morning they blocked my doorway with the housekeeping cart. The Carousel Inn was nice. Since you are solo, the accessible room would be great. It has one queen bed and a huge bathroom. I was even able to park by scooter in the bathroom to charge it when I had a problem with the outlet next to the bed.

We just got back and we stayed at the Desert Inn and Suites. While this is very "motel like", it is truly right across the street. They have an elevator and I'm sure you could ask for a room in an area that you would like it to be. We were more towards the back which helped reduce the noise. I LOVED it and would stay there again. The rates were great!! They had an indoor pool, hot tub and a continental breakfast. This was great as it filled our tank in the morning until we could either have a larger breakfast or until we could eat lunch. I was totally amazed at how close this was and would recommend it.

Good to hear this hotel is a hit. In my research, this one seems very reasonable for being across the street and with breakfast (which is a big pro so you can just grab something at your hotel and then head to the park).

Almost any hotel on harbor above katella or even to the convention center is not too bad of a trip on an ecv. I would not try the shuttles because it makes the driver stop and load you, and others get upset. Springhill (convention center) has a nice layout where you can keep the scooter in a separate living area from the beds.

Honestly the OP shouldn't base their decision on using a shuttle whether someone else using it may get their feelings hurt by having to wait an additional 60 seconds while the driver gets it loaded up.

Our stroller doesn't fold. It would be 3 pieces frame and 2 seats with us hanging on to 2 kids. Possibly others have a similar set up.
