I am thinking of switching my cats to another dry cat food, but I want one of good quality. They are currently eating Solid Gold.

Opinions please.

We use Iams. Because we have indoor cats we use the Indoor Weight and Hairball Control. It comes in a blue bag.

I started giving my cat AvoDerm Natural last fall and he loves it!! You can buy it at Petsmart. It is a bit pricey at about $9-13 for small to medium bags, but he loves it. and the bags actually last us a pretty decent amount of time.

I like Wellness Core, which is grain free. It has no dye which makes it easier to clean up when the cats get sick, plus it has drastically reduced the stomack problems my three cats had with other brands that include grain (Eukanuka, Science Diet).

My cats get the Iams Multi-cat household food. :)

Iams for ours. Digestive Care version. She was fine on Kitten, but regular Adult made her sick. Digestive Care is fine, though.

Our cat gets Blue Buffalo Spa Select Indoor Cat... she really seems to like it and she is a lot less sluggish from when she used to have Iams. There is really a difference! Her fur is much thicker and softer now as well. We get our food from Petsmart. HTH! :goodvibes

That's what I use and my cats do well on it. No canned food for them, they won't touch it. I have weird cats, they won't even eat tuna

I tried Blue Buffalo but they wouldn't touch it, but I've heard great things about it. Mine eat Diamond Naturals and look great.

I would never feed mine Iams/Science Diet or pretty much anything else you can get at Walmart....once I started reading the labels I became a pet food snob.

I would love to try Wellness, but that is just a little out of my price range. The Diamond Naturals is a good food, cats look super and it's reasonably priced.

My cats look a million times better than my mom's overweight sluggish cats that live on Meow Mix....blech...

I had a cat that lived 24 years on a strict diet of Nine Lives ground chicken and Tuna and a dog that lived 17 years on Pedigree canned so I'm a bit skeptical about all the claims over needing pricey pet food.

My own cat has been eating Purina One Urinary Tract health formula for ages and ages. He had urinary tract trouble when he was about 3 but this food has kept him healthy all this time. He's now in his 17th year and going strong. I give him Wiska's moist poultry in packets as a treat every night before bed and he's happy as a clam. My DH is convinced he's going to live forever... probably not but he sure is trying;)

For hairballs he gets a dropper of a sugar concoction I bought from the vet whenever I hear him making that hairball noise.

I had a dog that lived a long healthy life on whatever I bought her at the store, but once I started reading the labels I just can't go back to the corn and byproducts. I don't spend a ton of money on cat/dog food. There are actually a lot of foods out there, Chicken Soup/Diamond Naturals/etc that are better quality but cheaper than the Science Diet/Iams brands because they don't spend as much money on advertising.

I believe that people should feed whatever they feel comfortable feeding.

We feed our cats Wellness...

They are fancy cats!! It is organic and holistic and has like...cranberry stuff for urinary tract health and the vet actual said that because there is no filler or junk in it it reduces the amount of pooping the cat will do!! Yay!! Less poop.

We started it a year ago on our new kitten and then put our almost 10 year old fussy, hair ball hacking, pukey cat on it and it seems to agree with her as well as can be expected. Both cats have BEAUTIFUL shiny coats.

Kitty eats the Friskies bag that has the orange shade on it.

DH started Kitty on it while I was away...well, he said that's what she WANTED to eat. :faint: He lied his patootie off. But, anyway, she's off the wet food and eating that stuff.

The vet said that all the cat food is well balanced and not to worry about what I buy. Even when all she'd eat was one flavor of the store brand, he said it was fine and she'd be well nourished.

If the vet had told me to buy expensive cat food, I would. But he said it's fine for her to eat whatever she likes, so that's what she gets.

My cat (the real Boots) is 16 years old and weights a small six pounds. She is an indoor/outdoor cat. And for the vast majority of those years has lived exclusively on Meow Mix. I have tried other brands, expensive and non, and she gets a mouthful and will spit it back out at my feet. Almost like, it you like it you eat it. Boots has never been a big cat and has always been healthy. Maybe it is because we live in the country and she is a mouser too.:confused3 I have stayed with Meow Mix because that is all that she will eat.

My cat won't eat Iams or Science diet. She likes all the cheap bad for you foods like friskies.

Have you tried Halo? It's Ellen's brand of cat food but I've heard nothing but good things about it.

My cats eat Hills Science Diet Sensative Stomach. My oldest has stomach issues and this seems to have corrected them, so the other 2 are stuck with it. And we're stuck with the $30/bag cost... ;) What we do for our furbabies!!

My Lilly has a really sensitive stomach and food allergies. I switched her to Halo last year and she has improved tremendously. Her coat is nicer and she went from throwing up 2+ times a day to 1-2 times a week. HUGE improvement. Her litter box is also much nicer ;)

Our other cat Riley, who does not have any food issues, also eats it and LOVES it (plus she has a beautiful shiny coat now too). So much so that she is a little porker and we have to try and limit her intake....which isn't always easy since the other one is a fussy eater and doesn't eat on a schedule. Riley will scarf it all down at once, so we have to try and make sure whenever Lilly goes by the food bowl to give her some and then put away when she is done.

We have tried lots of brands, and Halo is so far the only one that Lilly has been able to stomach.
