I need a french translation for something. I tried an on-line translator but wanted to make sure it was correct. what would this line be in french:

"Help! Please help me! I need help! Please help me!"

(don't worry, its for a work of fiction. I don't really need help. hehehe)

M'aidez, m'aidez or, in english, mayday, mayday.

thanks! so then would the line ("Help! Please help me! I need help! Please help me!") be translated as

Aide! Veuillez m'aider! "J'ai besoin d'aide! Veuillez m'aider!"

My apple computer has a "widget" that does translations. Here's what it came up with typing in your words.

Aide! Veuillez m'aider. J'ai besoin d'aide. S'il vous plait, aidez-moi.

It looks like a pretty good translation as far as I can tell from my 4 years of very rusty high school French - although there should be a little mark that looks like an upside down letter v on top of the i in plait.

J'ai besoin de is "I have need of" (which would be how you have to say "I need")
Veuillez is want and the "m" is for me. So Veuillez m'aider! is "I want you to help me."
S'il vous plait literally is "If you please" (I don't think there is a one word for please).

thank you so much! my high school/college french is so rusty I didn't trust just myself to translate, and when I didn't see s'il vous plait in it anywhere, I wondered.

I think, and this is a big think, you could do it as a command as aidez-moi!

But I am also only in highschool french III :flower:

Oui. J'accord.

Also, I believe "Au secours!" would apply. :goodvibes

Au secours is what they yell out, not m'aidez.

really? so what would this line be then, fully transtlated?

"Help! Please help me! I need help! Please help me!"

If the person is really in distress, they would yell AU SECOURS which basically means Rescue me!

Remember, stuff does not translate literally or verbatim. When you try to do that, it gets pretty garbled.

I was taught au secours, too.

Aide! Veuillez m'aider! J'ai besoin d'aide! Veuillez m'aider is "too textbook," but it translates okay for a French class. :teeth:

seriously, what would the line be then? its for a work of fiction so I'd prefer it not to be too textbook. HELP!!!!!

TIA!!!!

here you go !

Help! Please help me! I need help! Please help me

Au secours ! S'il-vous plait, aidez-moi ! J'ai besoin d'aide ! S'il-vous plait, aidez-moi !

Richard
