I really would like to get a copy of the food allergy list so I can plan accordingly for DD who has multiple food allergies.

If anyone is willing to pick up a copy for me at city hall I will GLADLY reimburse you for shipping!!

(And a bonus would be if you could mail it FROM Disneyland...DS would get a kick out of that LOL!)

FYI,
Even though you can still deposit mail inside Disneyland they take it to the local Post Office now so it no longer has the Disneyland cancel stamp on it. :sad2:

Dont worry we'll figure somthing out so the little one gets that little thrill of Disney Magic when mom opens the mail box.

You know what would be REALLY awesome? (Not that I'm asking anyone to do this because I know it would be a bit of a pain)
His birthday is October 8th. I think it would be SO cool to have a birthday card w/ someone's autograph (mickey, buzz etc) saying that they couldn't wait to see him in November. Now THAT would totally make his day (even if it didn't arrive ON his birthday, he LOVES getting mail!) I may just have to fake something for him because he would LOVE that.:lmao:

Aww that would be such a cute idea!! If I were going soon I would totally do that for you! You could even have someone mail it and then if it gets there early just hang on to it and pretend it arrives on his birthday! :)

There's a "Fairy Godmailer" thread around here someplace, where people do that. Say you're going in a week, you post that you'll be there and you'll send a postcard to the first 5 people to PM you. You go to DL, pick out a postcard and write a message from "Mickey" or their favorite character, and something along the lines of "I can't wait for you to come visit me!" and send it to somebody's little one who is going to be there in the next month or so. Very exciting for the little ones! :lovestruc

I'm going to do this in a week or so for our Oct. 12-16th trip. How fun!

DLR has a food allergy list? Does this list EVERY restaurant and quickservice location or just quickservice? Does it only list allergens OR does it give ingredients?

Dd13 is allergic to soy. We'll be at DLR next summer. I'm very familiar with how WDW treats allergies (food ingredients binder listing all ingredients by menu item at each in-park quick service location, talk to chefs at table service restaurants and at the quick service places in the hotels, etc) but need to get up to speed with the DLR way.

The reason I need to know if just allergens are listed is that there are two different soy products that she can eat (soybean oil and soy lecithin). Some food manufacturers consider those two products to trigger the blanket soy warning while others do not. I'd prefer to know what type of soy is in the food, yk?

And I'm one of those who plans out dining, even quick service. I need to know ahead of time if there is anything that Emily can eat at a particular place. No sense in dealing with a disappointed and grumpy 13yo in a food line!!!

i have NO idea but if you get PS for a restaurant, make sure you tell them about her allergies. The chef will come to your table and tell you what is safe.

Unfortunately this is a mega-tiny budget trip and we aren't doing any sit downs so I'm hoping the list will give me a few ideas.:goodvibes

I haven't seen the list, but from what I understand it lists places that you can go to to request certain things for dietary restrictions, i.e. where to go to request a gluten-free meal. It doesn't list specific ingredients in each item, but as todzwife mentioned, you can ask for the chef in each restaurant and get that information from them. :)

Just another thought......We have food allergies in our family too, and I totally understand how frustrating it is to sit down in a restaurant and find out that there is nothing there that you can eat. So, I understand your need to know ahead of time. I check the restaurant menus on allears.net (I'll get the link for you if you need it) and look for items that MAY be safe......i.e. a certain type of food and then go from there. Good luck, I hope it all works out for you. :)

Yep, I use the menus on AllEars to pre-plan our WDW eating. I've already looked at the menus for the various DLR eateries :) The thing about tricky soy is that it can appear anywhere, in a marinade that one would think would be safe, in coating on chicken, etc. WDW has a similar allergy document listing where one can fine gluten-free or peanut-free foods, for example------but that doesn't work for our particular situation.

But thanks for the help guys! I'll have to do some more digging... I'm sure SOMEONE at DLR must be a special-diets liason like Brenda Bennett is at WDW.

If you get any further information about an allergy liaison or a list with specific ingredients at the various eatieries, can you post the info here? I would be most grateful! My DD has serious cashew/pistachio allergies, but not peanut or other nuts, she had an egg allergy as well but thankfully she's outgrown it. I agree, with allergies, it's helpful to be armed with as much info as possible beforehand. It cuts down on the stress!

BTW, hi all - this is my first post, I just found this board a couple of weeks ago, thank you all for the wonderful information! I haven't been to the DLR since 1995, but we're going in November! I convinced my DH with a lot of sad looks and sighing, being 5 months pregnant didn't hurt either! :)

I totally understand your situation. My DS is allergic to food preservatives which can be in everything from a coating, to salad dressing, etc. We can't tell just by looking at certain foods either. These "tricky" allergies are hard to deal with when you're eating out. I was just hoping that maybe you knew of a certain food item that seemed to
be "safe" at most times and could check to see where they offered it. But I can see that it won't work in this situation. We have groceries delivered when we are DLR and pretty much avoid "unknown" places now just to be sure. As todzwife mentioned, Chef Chris was the person who dealt with special food requests, and info. on special diets at DLR until a short time ago, but she recently posted that his position no longer exists and that we'd have to check with each chef at every restaurant. (I THINK I remember that correctly....She can clarify the specifics on that :) ) I hope they do put SOMEONE in that position, because it is very much needed. Good luck getting some help with your DD's diet.:)
