We have done the Hoop Dee Doo at WL which was quite good but the food was average - wouldn't rush to do it again.

This NYE we are doing the Spirit of Aloha show at the Poly - hope it is good.

We are also booked for Dixie Stampede which we have been assured is excellent - good show and good food and lots of it apparently. Not sure how much county music is involved (I'm sure there will be some) but it has 32 horses plus pig racing and ostriches and is on the lines of a big broadway production. Lots of audience participating shouting for your side - you could split into two teams.

I'm sure others will be along with their suggestions and recommendations - I'll be interested to hear them too.

Loved the Hoop-Dee-Doo, Good food and show. It's due to this that we may try Spirit of Aloha as both are done by Disney. Going to try Dixie Stampede in January, if you look on their website you can see the menu and details of the show.

If you're ruling out Dixie Stampede then it's kinda hard to recommend anything else. It's far and away the best food and show Orlando has to offer. Of the ones we've experienced I suppose Medieval Times might be ok for you, definitely no 'thigh-slapping' music there as I recall. Food was reasonable, show was good. Your daughters might have to suffer the indignity of having to wear a cardboard crown for the night though! If it was down to me I'd just tell them where they were going and that's it!! :thumbsup2

DAD-POWER!!

The rest of our party (9 relatives) went to the Pirates show last year and all had a blast, aged 6 to 55

I dont remember there being thigh slapping music at Dixie Stampede.

We dont like dolly parton (well I dont really dislilke her, but you get my drift) and we dont like country music but we all had a great evening! and the food is yummy!

How long does the Dixie Stampede last??
about 2 seconds in my house :rotfl2: only kidding i will check the website if its not country we could be interested,i think i read it was 2 hours

Don't be to quick to write a place or a show off becouse some other people didn't like it. Your family might really enjoy it. We are all different and like a variety of experinces. As a family we did not enjoy Dixie Stampede but I wouldn't tell others not to go becouse most of the rest of the audience seemed to enjoy it.

I thought Dixie Stampede was rubbish.
Soup was cold, rest of the food was only so so, my daughters hardly ate any of it and my son none, and the show was distinctly ordinary.
They say you get free drinks which in reality was 2, and you have to buy your own during the prelude.
At the end the waitress came round and told us what to tip her ($5 per person apparantly).
Don't waste your money with this one.

The Pirates Show isn't that bad!!! - Honest!

Medievil Times seems to be the best of the rest, as I have written recently, Dolly Parton's Dixie Stampede disappointed because the show was over so quickly and the waiter/waitress and flag and photograph sellers always seem to get in the way of the show every five minutes.

Hey everyone.

Just come back today and we did the Pirates dinner show when we were over there and we loved it. You need to put alot into this one to get alot out of it though. If you shout and scream along with the pirates then you'll have alot of fun. The food was pretty good for what it is (mass produced smple stuff) but then we don't got to dinner shows just for the dinner, it's the show that's the thing.

We also saw Arabian nights and really didn't enjoy it. Food was O.K again but the show was really poor. If you want to watch horses running round in circles for an hour then you might enjoy it.

Anyway, time for some sleep. I've been awake for about 36 hours and I'm suffering for it.

Don't forget Sleuth's, which is a good choice for a more grown-up audience (about 15 and up). The food is always pretty decent and the variety of shows is quite broad, so there is plenty to choose from. The performers are pretty quick witted and it is very different to the other offerings. The two magic-and-pizza shows (Skull Kingdom and WonderWorks) are both fairly good, too, although the SK one does vary as the performers change from time to time. The food is fairly ordinary but both shows are fun.

Can someone provide links to these shows being discussed? The only ones I know are Hoop De Doo (loved it!!) and Spirit of Aloha at the Poly. What are these others?

We have been to Florida 13 times now and never found time to do evening shows. I bought tickets for Arabian Knights 1 year but sold them when we got home (made a profit!) we obviously have other priorities.
This Aug friends invited us to Hoop De Doo. It was brilliant, even better when it was paid for by someone else. We will try to find time to do it next year again.

The main dinner shows are as follows:

Dolly Parton's Dixie Stampede

Medieval Times

Pirates Dinner Adventure

Arabian Nights

Sleuths Mystery Dinner Shows

The Outta Control Magic Comedy Dinner Show

Chamber of Magic Show & Dinner

Then there is one we don't feature in the Brit's Guide (because we don't think it is that good): Capone's (although they do at last offer half-off their price with their online coupon)

Of these, we would rate Dixie Stampede and Medieval Times about 8 out of 10, Arabian Nights about 7, Pirates a 6 and Capone's 5.

Then there are the two Disney shows:

Hoop Dee Doo Musical revue

Disney's Spirit of Aloha Show

There is also a luau show most nights at SeaWorld:

Makahiki Luau

(For what it's worth, we think the SeaWorld show is slightly better, but Disney's food is superior)

And one at Universal's Royal Pacific Resort most Fridays and Saturdays:

Wantilan Luau
