Need 2 cents on August Stay?

We have 2a and 3c

We have stayed out all the moderates a number of times.

We see with AAA--the value for August is some $65. Never stayed at value resorts. Do we need 2 rooms with basically a family of tweeners? Reservations has Port Orleans room avail for 5 as well.

So, should we do 2 rooms at value or 1 at moderate (which we are probably out growing as well)?

Also, any recommendations on any of the value?

Last year this trip we got the free dining but we see they pushed back the dates to later in August this time.

Thanks

Gerry

My advice is two connecting rooms at Pop Century. Besides the extra room you'll have vs. a mod, you'll also have two bathrooms. We have stayed at Poly many times, POR, and GF. We love the Pop just as much, and will have our 4th stay there this August. It doesn't feel deluxe, but it feels very Disney!

We had three of us in a POFQ room on one stay and I felt crowded. Maybe it's because we normally stay in DVC one bedrooms.

I can't imagine trying to get five people in one room with two double beds and one small trundle bed. I know that lots of people do it, but I would go crazy.

At least with two value rooms you would have two bathrooms and four double beds and no slide at the pool compared to two double beds and one bedroom but you have a slide at the pool.

You can't do five in a value room unless you get a family suite (usually not discounted) or one of the five is under the age of three.

i would go for one of the family suites at Music

We've done 5 in PoR for 10 days , it was work keeping from going insane. We all had a good time and enjoyed ourselves , but we had to make sure we weren't together 24 / 7 for 10 days. Sometimes some would nap while some went swimming and such. We did have an air mattress we used the whole time too.

We are a family of 5 too. we have done the POR room with the trundle bed twice. It is crowded but since we don't really spend that much time in the room it was fine with us. You also might consider a cabin at FW.

We've never stayed at the moderates, but we also have a family of five. Our kids are younger than yours it sounds like, but I'd say get two rooms at Pop Century. That would be a good amount of room for 5...just make sure you realize that they won't guarantee connecting rooms. You can request them and they will accommodate as best they can (ie. two rooms next to each other but not connecting), but they won't guarantee it. But, we LOVE Pop! GL and enjoy :)

I always thought that too, but I am holding my sister's confirmation in my hand (2 adults, 4 children) and it says:

"Special Request: Guaranteed Connecting Rooms"

I would think if it wasn't guaranteed, they would put Special request: connecting rooms.

If not, that word "guaranteed" is very misleading. :confused3

My information may be outdated as we stayed at POP last (where we needed two rooms) in April 2005. At the very least I would advise that people ask specifically about the guarantee for connecting rooms when making their reservations. :)

PS...I wanna go on your girls only WDW trip LOL

Thanks, we'll be glad to add you to the ressie! It will just be my DD10, DD13, and me! We are so excited not to have to curb any of our Disney enthusiasm for a whole week. When DH goes, we have to tone things down a bit or he goes on overload!

I'm voting for 2 rooms at Pop. Thats what we're doing this year. We have the dining package but I also got an additional room via AAA for 65.

As for the suites at Music, thats obviously an option but it would cost more.

I think it's only guaranteed if any of the children in the connecting room are under (I thought I read 12, but it might be a little older).

I would do the the 2 rooms at Pop too. The two bathrooms is reason enough. And it would be nice to get away from each other, even if its just the closing of that door to keep you all apart.

We got down there a day earlier and Pop Century was booked (maybe a good thing--seems like a soccer tournament was going on) and needed an extra night--so we added a night at CSR and upgraded from PopCen to CSR for length of stay.

We are also a family of five. We stayed in a POR trundle room in 2005. Beautiful room, great pool, nice food court, lovely grounds, overall fantastic resort. However, it was mighty cramped in there. Too cramped for our style, we love POR but we cannot do that again. This next trip, we are opting for two rooms at POP. Any value would be great, we just like the theme at Pop best.

All of our kids are under 12. If we cannot get connecting rooms, then we will have to split up. Daughter with me, and 2 sons with hubby. I really hope for the connecting rooms, though. I hate to split up my family.

can type in anything they want because they typed in "guaranteed connecting rooms, preferred" on our paperwork too.

We got there and had adjoining rooms and no way to get connecting.

It was fine because I knew that it wasn't guaranteed and just hoped. I think if it's really necessary you should just have a back-up plan. I hate being split up on vacation but we just slept there so it was okay for that trip.

They also typed in Toy Story, non-smoking.

We received adjoining,non-smoking in Fantasia.

It all worked out fine but next year we are doing guaranteed connecting by paying more for the jr. suite at CSR, two standard rooms are cheaper but we really want them to connect.

The cm's typed in the request for our toddler's birthday in a fun way and it all showed up in our reservation. I just think there's no category for the guaranteed connecting, just that the cm's can type in whatever you want them to and it shows up exactly that way. Doesn't mean you'll get it.

I hope I made sense!
