Anyone have these and do you recall where you purchased them? I have seen them before (at the parks) and think maybe we ought to invest in a few. Seems that the stores would have them now that summer is coming, but not sure which stores they can be found at and in what area of the store you would find them. :confused3

We just bought some disney bandanas, then poured some ice-water on them. They loved them! My mom and I wore them around our necks while the kids wore them as hats, rubbed their arms & legs with them or put them on their necks. It was very convenient!

I've always gotten them at Wal-Mart. They're usually with the sports stuff (it seems like I find them on the end of the aisle...not quite sure).

We got them at Sunny's Surplus years ago. I don't know if they still carry them, though.

I get ours at Wal-Mart. They are in the sporting goods section, usually close to Camping.

I don't like the feel of them on my neck. Therefore, I just us a bandana. Just get it wet and put it on my neck. Works wonders.

There is a set of 4 on QVC, together with 2 Misty Mates - for the bargain price of $19.93

Hopefully, this link will work http://www.qvc.com/qic/qvcapp.aspx/app.detail

ETA: The link doesn't work but it's product no. F0404

We were going to order it but, unfortunately, QVC won't ship to the UK

We are going at the end of August and these look great. How do you get them cold? Do they need to be put in the freezer because we won't have one? We will have a refrigerator. Thanks.

We got the cool downz ones from qvc. They worked pretty well for us.

It's item number F8091 if you want to look at their site.

While they are cool, our entire family HATED the slimy feel they left behind. I prefer just to keep rewetting a bandana. They are inexpensive, though, if you want to just try them. We also bought ours at Wal-Mart in the camping section.

We just put ours in the Ice buckets when we used them for playing Paintball during the summer at WWoS.

Even just running cold water over them works to cool them as well. Refridge if you want but in the freezer they can harden and split.

Has anyone else had this issue?

I read some reviews on them and some loved them and others complained that they stunk when they dried out. Since they are so cheap, I wouldn't even care if we only got one trip's use out of them and then had to throw them out. I didn't realize though that the only thing separating those beaded crystals from you is the bandana itself...now that I think about it, it makes sense, but I guess that is where the slimy feel may come in? :confused3

I still have a few that are over 3 years old in the fridge. Yes if you squeeze them they will leak some gel out of the seams and get nasty but none of mine ever did.

I always wore one around my neck and one as a headband when playing Paintball. This was most weekends during the summer so they were used a lot.

Yes, ours purchased from Wal-Mart 2 years ago seem slimy too, so we've never used them. It's like the gel stuff leaks out of the fabric just a bit.

Mine came from Walmart last summer and I"ve already started using them for the 2nd year while mowing and haven't had a problem yet??

The reason why the neck coolers would stink is that the person left the neck cooler on a flat surface to dry. Users should hang up the neck coolers so that air can circulate around the cooler. I tell people that the smell from improper drying is like leaving a cutting board on a wet surface.

How do you make them? More specifically, where do you find the gel stuff that goes inside? Thanks.

Thats how ours were. I was so excited to use them, but they were so slimy I didn't want to. I let them hand to dry so they didn't smell, they were just slimy.
