I am unsure if this post should be here or over in "tips", but here goes:

which apps should I have on my phone for my upcoming trip to WDW?

I used to have a cruise countdown...is there a similar for the parks?

AAAAAAAND, the Disney Experience app isnt compatible with my phone....I need a new one anyhow, here's my excuse!

ummmmmmm, thanks but that doesn't answer my question...........................................

For general tips, take a screenshot/picture of your FP+ For that day and make it your phone’s lock screen wallpaper (saves much time, data and battery vs launching MDE)

Save a shortcut to http://easywdw.com/waits/?&park=
It’s the fastest way (no graphics, so there’s way less data to download) to see WDW’s posted wait times for rides
YOU ROCK! Thanks for that super helpful info. Wish I had thought to do that 2 weeks ago for our big trip, will definitely be doing it this weekend for my short trip with son.

The only one I'd bother with myself is the My Disney Experience app; since it isn't compatible with your phone, hakepb's non-app workarounds are some of the most helpful advice you're likely to get. I can't speak for other users, but from my own experience I'll point out that it's a bit disheartening when you offer good, relevant help to a stranger and they respond with something along the lines of a passive aggressive "ummmm thanks" and a mile-long ellipsis.

perhaps if he had addressed my question in some clear manner, I might have culled the information he was trying to pass along. I was asking about apps and he was talking FP+. Not passive aggressive, just confused.
I see the "old boy system" still prevails on certain parts of these boards..........

I appreciate any advice given, even your passive aggressive implication that I was being passive aggressive.....sometimes the KISS rule is the best rule. Sorry if I ruffled any feathers..........

Touring plans lines ap is good, I find it more real time than MDE. If you have any kind of food discount card - AP/DVC/TIW - Mouseperks is good to tell you where you get a discount. Other than MDE those are the only aps I use.

 It would be a little difficult for me to be part of an "old boy system" given that I am neither male nor a personal acquaintance of the poster to whom you replied (I spend most of my time in the cruise forum these days tbh). I'm just going to say that tone can be difficult to catch in text, and I was working off the context clues I was given when I made my comment.

I think I and others have assumed that you're already aware of the basic functionality of the My Disney Experience (MDE) app, which may have contributed to some confusion. MDE includes a map of the entire WDW property you can use to view wait times, restaurant locations, bathroom locations, and so on. It also allows you to make real-time changes to your FP+ selections and dining reservations from your phone as long as you have a wifi or data connection, and (at least theoretically) shows you the entire schedule of reservations you've set up for yourself (in reality it often fails to show "unusual" things like dessert party bookings, but is fairly reliable otherwise). You can also add shows and events to your schedule in MDE, so even things that don't require/accept reservations will pop up with reminders at the appropriate times. I've found that the ability to track and update my dining reservations and FP+ on the fly via MDE is the app's most important function relative to how I tour, so I did not find it surprising that a response to someone who'd said they couldn't put MDE on their phone focused on workarounds for dealing with FP+ if you don't have the app (or just don't want to pull it up every time you need to check your FP+ schedule). If you weren't aware I can sort of see how maybe that didn't seem like a natural segue to you.

Huh, I'd never heard of Mouseperks! Does it work for Disney Visa discounts? On the last trips to DL and WDW I've just typed notes-to-self into my phone regarding any restaurants we were interested in that got the Visa cardholder discount (spoilers: it is not many).
