We are bringing our portable nebulizor for my ds on our upcoming trip. We have not flown in 2 years. Usually I bring it on board with my in my carryon. Is this still ok?

Also how do you guys pack shampoo and conditioner? My hair is long and those little sample bottles at the drug stores are not going to cut it for our trip. I really don't want to bring my normal size shampoo and cont.
Help

Medications are not a problem and are not included in the 1 Q bag, with a 3 0z limit per item. But medications do have to be declared, I put my son's in a seperate Gallon bag -incase it spills. TSA has a whole thing on their web site about it.

Your personal shampoo/Conditioner: If you are checking luggage, put your bottles in a gallon zip lock and put them in your checked luggage.(I would save a bottle that is 1/4-1/2 empty -use what I need on the trip and throw them away at WDW). If you are not checking luggage, you must get several bottles in the Quart bags. They must be in bottles that are clearly marked (3 oz or less). I save them and resuse them. My baby lotion bottle might have shampoo in it-then I put a little label on it (don't cover the size markings) so I remember...I have brought conditioner to the laundrymat;) :rolleyes1 . Does your favorite shampoo come in packets from your hairdresser? I ask mine for a few extra foil packs-they are labled for size too.

Don't forget that each person traveling can have 1 bag...so many times my kids are only carrying a baggie with toiltries in it. You might want to check around to other shampoo/conditioner options that work well with your hair. EG: I need lots of conditioner- but I can also use Infisum, which is more watery and less dense-therefore I can fit more in the same space.

They always have to swipe our bag with the nebulizer in it so it adds a little time. I find that if I mention that the bag has a neb in it before I send it through they pull it right away and it speeds things up.

If the liquid is over 3oz, and it is NOT a prescription, then you need a doctor's note to bring it through.

My ds7 has a g-tube (a feeding tube), and we had to bring some of his pediasure onto the plane. I had a doctor's note saying it was medically necessary for my son to have his feeding formula as it was his only means of nutrition. I'm glad I had that note because at the Chicago airport, they required it. At the LAX airport, they didn't ask for a doctor's note.

I used ziplocks for bottles in the checked luggage. The shampoo and perfume bottle went into the ziplock and into a shoe for more cushioning.

According to the TSA You can take up to 5 liters of wine per person, so a few bottles of conditioner and shampoo it a.o.k. Too!

Our Boy Scout troop taught us to put each day's clothes into a ziplock bag in case your backpack got wet. We have learned this is a good idea with airlines being less caring about the bags. You don't have to worry about what to wear-it's all there!

One time we packed our son's nebulizer in the checked luggage - on the way home since he was over his cold and no longer using it. Some of the plastic pieces got broken. So now if we need to take it (which it seems we always do) we are back to carrying it on. We actually just carry it in it's little bag and tell them what it is before they scan it.

Also, his albuterol solution is supposed to stay cool and that is a pain. I bought a little carrier that diabetics use for their meds. You soak it in cold water and it stays cold for a long time. I put the solution in that and even though the case is gel-based, I kept the prescription info with it and they let it go through.
