Hi,

we stayed in a villa in Westridge in Aug 2004 and it was a nightmare getting along the 192 and then down the US27 because the traffic was so busy - would take us about 40 minutes to get back to the villa in the evenings. We want to book a villa privately for our holiday in Aug 2007 but would prefer something a lot closer preferably where we can duck straight off the 192 rather than having to drive it all the way along to the US27!!

Anyway, can anyone recommend the closest villa divisions? I have struggled to find any and to see where they are becuase I havent been able to find any decent maps online yet to show me where they are.

Thanks

Hi

Here's a map to give you some idea

http://www.orlandovillas.com/Map.aspx

Villas on the US27 are not too bad for location - but don't go to Disney via the 192. Instead, drive in the opposite direction until you reach the junction of the I4,this takes you straight to Disney's front door and should take no more than 20mins in average traffic

We always book a villa just off the 192 and the location is ideal for everything.

You are close to supermarkets, restaurants, the I4 and Disney is 10 minutes or so away also.

If you look for a villa around the Formosa Gardens area you will be in the ideal place.
There are many nice dvelopments there including our favourite Indian Creek.

IC is a couple of minutes away from the 192 junction, a Publix Supermarket less than a mile away and like I say restuarants and all the attractions in easy reach.

I have done plenty of research and looked around many of the different villa locations and I honestly think you will not go wrong with the above.

By 2007 there will be a road from the upper 27 area Florence Villa Grove Road that cuts through to the 192 and will take a lot of the travelling time away. Also from the upper 27 area you can use Sherberth Road and Osecola Parkway to save travelling the 192 all the 6 miles to Disney exit so don't discount the 27 as this is where a lot of the new communities are being built

Take a look at Emerald Island, Windsor Palms, Suset Lakes, Rolling Hills, Oak Island and Indian Creek. They are all in the same area, very close to Disney normally no more than 10 minutes and from Emerald Island and Oak Island can be only 5. My reservation with Indian Creek is that they have just cut it in half with that huge motorway (toll road...Greenway ?) and when we were there last it certainly was not the pretty place it used to be. I have stayed on the 27 and it does not matter which way you look at it, you are going to take at least double the time to get to Disney, apart from that the 27 itself is a horrid road !! Just getting out on to it from your sub division seems like a major trauma.

I know what Martina means about Indian Creek , there is a major road that cuts straight through the development.
However, providing your chosen villa is not close to the construction works I still think IC is a good choice.

All the remaining developments such as Windsor Hills etc are all in what is referred to as the Formosa Gardens area.

There is a small shopping and restaurant complex nearby which is called FG also.

Hi. We have just returned from staying at the Venetian Bay Villages complex. We found it to be a fab location, located in Kissimmee between the 192 and Osceola Parkway. Easy access to the 192 via Hoagland Blvd with a Walmart about 5mins away. We would approach Disney and the I4 via the Osceola Parkway and it would take no more than 15 mins. Highly recommended!

know what you mean lisagirlyUK we stayed at a villa on the US27 and felt it was just to far away more so at night after the parks we went home and the thought of a 40 min + drive to get to a nice restaurant put us off, that and the roadworks. we have also stayed near the Villas of Summerset and down at Boggy Creek road end which was good as it was near for restaurants and we found a shortcut near (or it could have been ) the john young parkway, it was a toll road anyway with just one toll enroute and took us straight into disney right over the I4.

my sis-in-law stayed at a villa on the 192 near although not a far as where splendid china was and it was also a good location

We stayed at Windsor Palms, which is one of the estates near Splendid China, last summer and I timed the trip from our driveway to the Animal Kingdom parking lot and it took just 8 minutes. But as mentioned before be aware of the road building near there.

We stayed at Windward Cay off marker 14, a very quiet area with lovely villas (we stayed in a villa called Dragonfly) for £350 a week (in September 2005). You can view a few villas that are close to Disney (including in this neighbourhood) at www.floridasunshine.com They come recommended in the Brits Guide to Orlando book and we had no problems with them, just paid the deposit before going and paid the rest when we got there with traveller's cheques.

Best part was we were never more than 20 minutes from Disney and were very close to lots of restaurants and the biggest Walmart in America I think!

Good luck finding a fab holiday home!

As for a map of the 192, i use this one which also has a I Drive alternative. It gives the places on the 192 including restaurants and attractions and shows the main areas for villas including subdivisions.

I'm staying at Doral Woods - the route planners reckon it's about 20/25 mins from Disney - anyone have any experience of it?

It may be a little out of date because as you know Terry the rate the new developments are going up makes it almost impossible for any map to be always current .It is the same with the ov map communities on there are not in the right place either .
