Sorry, I'm sure this has been asked a million times before, but I hope someone will take pity on me and answer again!

Where is the nearest supermarket to SSR? Is it Goodings at Crossroads, or is there a Publix / Winn Dixie / Walmart anywhere as close? And is it easy to find?

DH and I are driving down to VB with one DD for a few days in the middle of our next trip, leaving other DD and her BF at SSR without transport. I know they can get basics in the store at SSR but we'd like to stock up on a few things for them before we head off with the car.

Thanks :)

the closet place for some surplys is the onsite hess garage, walk from congress park takes me 12-15 min

Thanks, Paul :thumbsup2

I've been there once for fuel and think we also bought some potato chips or something, but I didn't really notice how big a range of supplies they had. Can you get most kinds of grocery items there, or is it the same kind of things as in the SSR shop only cheaper?

there is a nice Winn Dixie if you turn left at the crossroads coming out from DTD. I thought Goodings had went a bit shabby. if you have the car and stock up before you go then the Winn Dixie has loads. the SSR shop would tide them over until you got back

Thanks, Paul :thumbsup2

I'm sure that's all DH ad BF will want! (although they are both under 21 so are coming to terms with the fact that they won't be able to buy any beer out there!!) ;)

That sounds more like the kind of place DH and I might want :) Do you have any more directions?

keep to the left lane after coming out of SSR then left again at the lights at the DTD area Marketplace entrance bit . turning into think it is called Hotel Plaza Boulevard, keep in the left lane as you approach the cross roads,

turn left at the lights at the crossroads and get into one of the right lanes. short distance up there is another set of lights go through these and continue for about 2 blocks and its in on the right. think it just opp Chillis ,
its not far at all from SSR

if you want to go to the new Walmart on Turkey Lake Road if you turn right at the lights I have highlighted above and follow the road it takes you right to that Walmart, it is bit longer though

Thanks, Ali - that sounds brilliant!

We haven't been to the Winn-Dixie, but the WalMart is very easy to find. As Ali and boyz says, turn right onto Palm Parkway and just follow that road until it becomes Turkey Lake Road. WalMart is on your left shortly after the junction with the 528 Beachline Expressway (formerly the Bee Line Expressway).

We tend to take the "back route", partly because it avoids the heavy traffic on Hotel Plaza Boulevard and the Apopka-Vineland Road, but also because we like to have a nose around. If you're interested in seeing some "behind the scenes" areas, take a right out of the SSR entrance onto Disney Vacation Club Way and then turn left onto Buena Vista Drive away from Hotel Plaza Blvd. Follow this for a short distance until you hit a t-junction and then turn right. This will take you to the junction Ali and boyz mentions, so you then need to turn left at the lights for Winn-Dixie, or go straight across for WalMart. You'll have the Orlando Ale House on your left as you approach the lights.

Thanks, Deb :)

All these directions are being written up into my trip notebook :thumbsup2

Winn-Dixie is probably your best bet. There is also a Walgreen's pharmacy (chemist) across the street and a good liquor store there. Combine your trips!

Sign up for Win-Dixie's "Club Card" or whatever it's called. Nice discounts every week.
