I originally placed one thread in the Theme Parks Forum and one in the Rumurs and News Forum. The mods moved the Theme Park thread over here and should of combined them, IMHO.

Not to be be mean, but why is this news at all. Sounds to me the lifeguards did their job, EMS did their job and the person was stable when they reached the hospital. I'm sure lifeguards pull people from pools everyday at Disney...by definition, wouldn't each of those incidents be near drownings?

I agree with Magic Fanatic...........the point? If you go to any water park or even just a pool, this kind of thing happens all the time. Thankfully the Lady survived likely due to all the excellent professional CM's doing their jobs!

I see the life guards pull people out all the time, but I don't think the guests take an ambulance ride to the hospital. That's probably rare. Kudos to the life guards!

1) DD#2 was a lifeguard and lifeguard instructor.
2) She rescued a guy in a local swimming pond/pool.
3) She actually got a handwritten commendation and hard-wood plaque from Eliz Dole (head of Red Cross at the time).
4) Daughter just shrugged it off - "This is what we are trained to do!".

Our sons are all lifeguards-or soon to be lifeguards. Some have rescued swimmers. Some have not. It is part of the job. Thank God the lifeguards at WDW have good training.

Rusty, was not disparaging lifeguards, I was one myself a very long time ago. I was trying to point out ha the story itself was over the top and because of the job th guards did, there was nothing to report.
